Favorite Movies!
#21
My favorites in no particular order are:

Planes, Trains & Automobiles (mostly because I laughed very hard with my then-10 year old son until we were both crying when John Candy was waving his socks around on the airplane...good memory!)
Leaving Normal
Eternal Lightness of Being
Smoke
Accidental Tourist
Moonstruck (I could watch the last scene in the kitchen with the marriage proposal at the breakfast table over and over again)
The Way We Were (my guilty pleasure - outcast wins over one of the "beautiful people" and makes him think for five seconds)
Babette's Feast
The Piano
Lost in Translation

There is something seriously wrong with you people Wink

NO ONE has mentioned Ferris Bueller's Day Off or The Breakfast Club or Princess Bride.

Oh, well, here I go again. Aki, I saw Moonstruck once about 25 years ago and the only thing I remember was that Cher was in it, and I also watched Lost in Translation once and while I enjoyed Bill Murray for his talent and Scarlett Johansson for her looks, I wasn't too excited about the movie itself. Sorry, jdirgo, but I haven't seen any of your 3 favorites, nor do I have any intention of doing so. This is just another example of human diversity, and is no reflection on anyone's personal taste.

"Princess Bride" was awesome. I put off seeing it because of the title.
Funny!

Also I put off seeing "So I married an Axe Murderer" because of the title.
But that is one of my favorites.

Dr. Strangelove - How I learned to Love the Bomb.

Maybe that tells you something about how I feel about the world's political situation.

Hey fireant, "Dr. Strangelove" is one of my favorites as well. No sex, drugs, or rock and roll but hoo the violence!!! Another dark comedy in which "happy endings" do not apply.
