any TSA advice?
#21
or would the TSA move into the logical next phase - checking body cavities?....

After the recent suitcase bomb scare on a flight in Namibia, I figured "oh, hell, now TSA is going to ban all suitcases on flights!" It would follow with their asinine/power-grab behavior to date. Any excuse to further bloat their ranks and extract more money out of the traveling public and taxpayers. But then it turned out the suitcase "bomb" was just a fake bomb, manufactured by a US corporation as part of the whole keep-the-sheep-terrified-so-we-can-grab-more-power-and-tax-them-more scheme. Whew! Such a relief.

So, we are all still permitted to take a suitcase with us when we go to the casino, ...er, airport for the game of chance wherein we might simply walk through a metal detector, be dosed with radiation, or be gate raped.

Place your bets!

I am not being facetious - the same folks who brought us the underpants attempt - did take out a saudi official - using a bomb carried in a body cavity

What disturbs me is a TSA that is constantly re - acting while the first rule in turning the tables in a combat situation, is to not react but act...... so far it looks like another failed "work project" not a viable security system

By reacting rather than acting they are painting themselves into a corner imho

The thought of a stranger looking at my body scan doesn't bother me in the least vs. the thought of maybe another underwear bomber being on my plane sitting next to me. Which BTW doesn't stop someone from using a body cavity to plant a bomb and not to mention all of the luggage on most planes has not been screened. BTW the radiation levels at high altitudes are exponentially higher than one body scan so if you don't want extra radiation better think about a slow boat to the islands.

Kinda like these catscan machines?

TSA in charge of radiation dosing equipment - think they can do a better job than the health care industry?

where are the checks and balances?

good read:

"She’s also interested in following the money:

* In 2008, former U.S. Department of Homeland Security secretary Michael Chertoff authored a 38 page report warning of terrorists exploiting our security deficiencies – including air travel …
* After the [Christmas Day] ‘bombing attempt’ Chertoff made a flurry of media appearances suggesting that the “attempted bombing incident” could have been avoided if all airports were using full body scanners.
* The Washington Post printed an article on January 1, 2010, calling Chertoff out for using his government credentials to promote a product that benefits his clients. It was revealed that Rapiscan Systems, the manufacturer of the naked body scanner Chertoff was recommending, was a client of Chertoff’s security consulting agency.
* Rapiscan has since received over $250 million in scanner orders."

Shucks! Why do the Germans always beat us to it?

Cavity search!? Whoa now...I'll strip (I don't do underwear, BTW), but nobody's looking in my hairy ears!

Thanks everyone this is encouraging, humorous and well think I'll get a valium or two from a friend, in response to your observations alaskansteve! Just to keep me in line from running thru security throwing my cloths off. A flight attendant was on a news program discussing how she went thru the scan and then had to be groped. She was half naked unbuttoning her blouse as the TSA groped her prosthesis breast, and then asked her to remove it! Of course she was humiliated but in a hurry to get to her job! So humiliated she didn't even think to get the agents name she just wanted out of there. So a cancer survivor went thru the body scan taking more radiation as she was in a hurry to get to work, and then had the ugly pat down spread them. Lucky for her crew who have FBI clearance will be excluded in the future from these tactics.

So I'll be mellow as possible and think of Aunt Tilly. Oh wait a minute, I AM Aunt Tilly!
