Supreme Court approves TMT sublease
#31
Capitalism hasn't been kind to any part of Hawai'i. With that said, if there's money in TMT, then the wheels of capitalism will grind any fat morons in the way into a paste. If those idiots actually cared about Hawai'i, they would be out clearing christmas berry and albizias instead of sitting on their fat ass at a checkpoint. They would be building homes for the homeless, you know the largest racial populace of homeless is native Hawai'ians? If they actually gave a **** about their own people, they'd be building homes instead of building useless, illegal checkpoints. They don't give a **** about any of it, because look at their actions. They don't actually try to preserve the island, they are just stuck in their dumb tunnel vision over one mountain. The islands are sacred, not one damn mountain.

These are really harsh words, but the issue of invasive species raping the landscape and pushing out literally everything that is native to this place, and the original people also being the most homeless?
Those issues are infinitely more important than building a god damned telescope on a mountain. They will always be infinitely more important. There will never be a point in all of the future where this will not be true. That's why I'm pissed, it should be blatantly obvious that the 'aina and the kama'aina are more important than blocking the construction of a telescope.

I've been checking on the status of the TMT's Environmental Impact Assessment for the Canary Islands for the last few months. As far as I understand, the document still isn't finalized yet last I inquired, which was a week or so ago.

Tom K, I followed up with the folks that are handling the TMT EIA
in the Canaries. This was the update I received them today:

"Hi Aaron:

It is in its final stage, but probably it will last some weeks more. Some steps are still needed.

You can be sure that we'll keep you properly posted."

Thank you, Aaron. I haven't heard anything since the meeting I mentioned.
