TMT "concerned" about "inaction"
#31
I went to Kona yesterday and the number of people at Mauna Kea Access Road was dramatically less since it’s much harder to park up there since they’ve put up No Parking signs all over the place and ticketed over 600 vehicles.

Interesting.
So enforcement of some laws has reduced protest participation?
Now, I’m just thinking inside the box for a minute here, but what would happen if all the laws were enforced at Mauna Kea Access Road?

We got a new governor? I must have slept through the special election.

In reference to the (finally) enhanced enforcement effort on the Saddle Road, I found this interesting from today's Trib:
“There’s a feeling from a lot of us that, you know, they were trying to provoke a reaction from our community,” (Lakea) Trask said.....

“We’re not going to let it deter what we’re there to do. We knew these kind of things would come from the state, these little types of underhanded actions and microaggressions, because … all over the world, that’s how the state works. They can afford to take little cheap shots and chip away and try to bleed us out, in a sense.”

Clearly, Mr. Trask believes that the laws don't apply to his cohort - enforcement of which, in his opinion, constitute "underhanded actions and microaggressions" (he certainly has his PC-speak down, I'll give him that). It certainly doesn't give you any confidence in the County or State government that a group attitude such as that exists here - although, given the very long record of selective enforcement that prevails in Hawaii, not surprising...

Mr. Trask believes that the laws don't apply to his cohort

Laws have not applied for more than six weeks, with no indication that they will be applied ever, so Trask's belief is de facto correct.

I would expect a much larger crowd to be there this holiday weekend than what I saw yesterday but it will be interesting to see where they will park and if HPD will be out writing tickets this weekend.

Lets look at the entire picture...Laws have not applied for more than 50 years for the Hawaiians...choice to enforce by the entity in POWER is blatant in Hawaii

Problem: these kind of things would come from the state, these ...underhanded actions and microaggressions, because … all over the world, that’s how the state works... little cheap shots

Solution: Don't drive up to the Access Road, walk. No parking tickets, no expired stickers, no illegal dark tinted windows or too big tires. Underhanded actions easily avoided, microaggressions averted.

Hint: if you're really a sovereign Hawaiian National beyond the reach of US Law, turn in your passport, driver's license, and social security card.

Just an addendum... The amount of tickets issued on Mauna Kea as of yesterday was 1240.
