Yurts information ,free of "personal" stuff
#31
Sorry, forgot to add that $40 000 for the platform-that you rep. told me over the phone. You apologized for his mistake later. I posted that information before I got your explanation. That post on the other forum was a long time ago and I didn't corrected it because I was busy and simply forgot. So you apologized for your rep. misinformation,I apologize for not correcting it on time.
I was going by the facts.I did recommend your business on both forums, because permitting needs to be done by professionals.
Someone else on this forum, well respected and with English as the first language, mentioned your interesting style of answering questions.
I know several languages and wouldn't have chosen the one I don't know as good as the "first" language in the important business communication .
But for the peace of this forum's sake I am accepting your explanation that no offense intended.

For the sake of peace, let me add my two cents. No matter what you do, when you wade into unfamilar territory - such as building - it is scary. And it is hard to know who to believe or take advice from.

As an example, you outta see me in the kitchen. I dont cook - I have no talent in that respect. I have 12 cookbooks out with the same dish, SB telling me what the dish is missing, and 3 friends giving advice.... and this is just a simple Tikka Marsala - Indian peasant food! And one glass of wine to calm my nerves!

It must be terrifing to think about building and being a novice. Tikka Marsala - cost $40 for 6. Small house - $100K.....

Right KopohoCat, a healthy amount of fear (or concern) serves as a safety feature for many people starting to build. Self preservation! It's the fuel for energy to do the research and ask necessary questions. An informed person is best not only when hiring someone to help professionally, but also as a client for any business. Do the work to know what you're getting into and when you have you can move ahead more confidently and aware of the challenges.

Stillhope, thank you for your explanation. Just glad we cleared up the miscommunications.

Hi All, I never realized what a stir a yurt would cause....My hard drive crashed on my computer so have been down for 5 days its amazing how much you miss here on punaweb in just 5 days.
Yurtgirl. Thank YOU... great idea to find some yurt rentals to find owners to get the good , bad and ugly on yurts.
I dont want to fianance a yurt the whole plan here is to pay cash for my land and yurt or other dwelling, Imagine if you had to be evacuated hmmmm I could pack up the whole darn house and go, I would like to be somewhat partially retired, If I dont have a mortgage and a salon to support, I could afford to only work part-time.
My partner and I are not going to move our horses but want enough land to get horses when we are settled on the big island,
and with a budget around a hundred thousand.
I think I could get 3 acres put up a yurt and get moved over....
AM I ONLY DREAMING>>>>>we will see.....

Your welcome lostboy, happy to have helped and have that help appreciated. With your stated budget you should have no problem reaching your goals to buy land and create a safe haven for you, your partner and a few horses, you would probably have money left over depending on the cost of your land. We've had a horse running around here in the Acres for months now, I guess a few of us can say we've got a 'part-time' horse for now! I was thinking of roping him and training him for some cheaper transportation, what with these rising gas prices and all!
(wink, wink)
A hui ho~

[8D]hey yurtgirl, I wish sometimes my horses were only part time, since the price of hay here is crazy 225.00 a ton I am paying for feed for two horses that 2 years ago I was feeding 6 head on...luckely our goats dont eat much..lol
I am really glad to know I am not just dreaming. of being able to do this on our budget, I am only 42 and if I only have work part time, I could have a life, besides work, We live here in Salmon Idaho and its been a darn hard cold winter, and have had enough, but in the 7 years ive been here, we just dont have the time to really enjoy the 2 and 1/2 months of good weather that we do have, because we have to work so much, and for what? to grow old working my butt off I dont think so....lol
I am still exploring the yurt idea but always open to new suggestions.

http://www.isleofyou-hawaii.com/accomodations.htm

Here is Kelly & Normand (Da Banana Boys) renting yurts as vacation accomodations. I suggest you - if visiting - go stay in theirs or anyone else who is doing vacation rentals with them - and see what you think.

kapohocat, thanx saw that websight lastnight, I will be checking with them when we come over found a few others to talk too. from the pics it looks pretty nice, i think i would attach the bathroom and build a enclosed open air kitchen to the yurt, their bathroom looks really nice. I was surprised in my google search on yurt rentals their were more on kaui than on hawaii, and they get alot more rain than hawaii.
[8D]Hey YURTGIRL whats up....could you e-mail me? I would like to chat a bit, but dont want to stir things up, here on punaweb, it seems the whole yurt discussion, everytime I ask a question that you have answered for me seems to ruffle a few feathers. So for peace love and understanding...you can e-mail me at Jaggededge06@hotmail.com...thanx Craig[:p]

No problem Lostboy, I'd be happy to. I'm glad the vacation yurt rentals suggestion is working out, it seemed to make more sense to speak with them rather than getting advice from people who had no real experience with yurts... and I reckon I am a bit biased, I flat-out love the things!

Not to restir the pot, but curious why when Lostboystoy was looking for first hand living in yurt person to talk with why Yurtgirl didn't step up. Now if she does not live in a yurt I'd say that is important too as well as why not. Goes to credibility IMHO.
