In the meantime I get accused of being lazy, not understanding how to use google and being an extortionist (really, how silly is that?). I'm waiting for those videos which might help support your point. Perhaps you are the one being too lazy to use your American Google or be bothered to learn how to use it. As for being part of Ruderman's gang, well, really. Your research really is not very comprehensive, is it? Here's your chance, PT. Show us all how you are an expert with google and for once back up your claims with evidence.

AM,
"PT, you posited the claim to have proof, so it is incumbent on you to provide the cites to back up your claim, not for others to go a goose chase for them. Yours is just another in a long line of others based on your emotional feelings and that folks will also find to be without base, as per usual with you." Can you imagine where we'd be if all the scientists in history published their findings but then failed to cite previous work and just told their readership to "go and look it up yourself"? If anyone is being anti-science, here it's PT. Unfortunately, it's not the first time he's done this and suspect it won't be the last. PS. I don't like using the word "proof". That's for law courts and mathematicians. "Evidence" is a better choice in my opinion. But that's just a minor bugbear of mine!

You always want to keep it emopersonal. This faux emoempathy makes me puke. My post was about the topic. Your's is about me. And it is a pissing contest about who is more "scientific". Whatever. You come across as a salieri, precise to a razor crispness, but void of inspiration. Ruderman's stance on being anti-science is right there in front of your face. He is anti-GMO, anti-geothermal, completely confused about fracking, and there is video of him saying he is anti-science but you are a real buffoon if you think that I am going to spend hundreds of hours watching awful videos to catch that clip. It was back before he was elected and during a Pele Defense Fund meeting, some which would last for several hours. And to shut your trap, there is video of Ruderman saying "the purpose of the law is to make illegal things legal". Rummage that around your head for awhile. Which does have to come around to this? Are you a voting American citizen? I will wait for your answer. "Mahalo nui Pele, 'ae noho ia moku 'aina" - kakahiaka oli

He's against Thalidomide too!
His quote; "the purpose of the law is to make illegal things legal" That may be referring to the rights of minorities and women to vote, Or maybe for people to grow medicinal herb. You know; things that were once illegal, but now have been madelegal. I vote. By the way; It was illegal for me to do that before I went to Vietnam(too young). The law was changed though, and now it's legal. Coolio!

Yes, you are correct....upon a 2nd viewing of the Senators interview on the video I noted he made a reference to H2S and that amidst tall he referenced SO2 statistics in my post I had mixed in the 25 ppb for H2S. So, in light of the question (Is the Senator "anti-science"?) I should only refer to the H2S concern that the Senator addressed in the video. In doing some searches on this subject I found a number of earlier Punaweb threads on the subject, I see no sense replowing those fields (to extend Rob's "wandering off the farm" metaphor). So, I'll ask a few questions since I saw you have been quite active on this subject for years. I see some relevance to the question "is the Senator anti - science" as PT has asserted. I don't believe that this video shows him to be, and I gave my explanation as to why. In regards to the subject that the Senator addressed in the video. It's been a few months, of the residents that were videoed or complained of the effects of H2S, what has happened ? Have they filed any suits ? Have they submitted claims for medical expenses to PGV or any County/State agency? Is there any documentation to support their version of the events that night ? There were constant winds gusting well above 30 mph. It would have had to have been a tremendous release to have sustained concentrations in the ppm's, and the highest reading that I found referred to was 25 ppb adjacent or on the PGV site. I found this as a reference from a PGV statement: ".... OSHA standards allow workers without protective equipment to work in an area with 10 parts per million, or 10,000 parts per billion...." Based on your involvement with the subject over the years is that correct? Also, have you heard of any tourists or residents who have been hospitalized or treated for H2S or SO4 toxicity that they were exposed to while in close proximity to an active event ? It would seem like we would have heard by now of some unfortunate person who was incidentally affected and poisoned. It also seems obvious to me that a resident within closer proximity, for instance one of the complaining parties resident in Leilani or nearby, would have pursued a legal action if the Senators retelling of the events of the night were accurate. My understanding from the video is that he wasn't there, but was expressing the concerns of his constituents who had complained to him or others.

Let's just cut to the chase here, PT. You wrote:
"[...]The other fact is Ruderman is on video multiple times stating he is against science.[...]" Now it's: "[...]and there is video of him saying he is anti-science but you are a real buffoon if you think that I am going to spend hundreds of hours watching awful videos to catch that clip." So, it's gone from multiple times to "that clip" and you can't even find that. I just wonder who the buffoon is here.

Okay, so we all know that Puna is deeply divided on some issues: geothermal, GMO, experimental housing, ad infinitum. When Russell Ruderman the businessman and musician became Senator Ruderman, he took an oath to represent all the residents of this district whether he personally agrees with them or not. He's perceived as pandering to a faction, which is divisive. This renders him largely ineffective. Frankly, Ruderman's base is out of touch with most of the rest of the state and are perceived as anachronistic and hipper than thou. As a result Lower Puna is now at risk of becoming a full-fledged exclusion zone. We are far more diverse a group than Ruderman and his struggling power click care to admit. Don't you think it's time to bury the hatchet, for a while at least, and work together to keep from become totally disenfranchised?
