Some of my favorite things at the Maku'u Market; Steve's Goat cheese, Mark's CD's and garage sale stuff, potato pancakes with roasted beets, Stanley's original pen and ink work, Big Island Kombucha, Stoneface, Katie's watercolors, the organic produce people, the sprout guys who cut them while you wait, The cement statue guy, Jose's coffee, green papaya salad, Carrie's used books, Jeremiah's original screened shirts, most of the entertainment except Penny, seeing local friends, and donating a dollar to the Hawaiian Cultural Center. Come this Sunday; I will be strolling naked down the center isle at 10:15.

I'll take a stab at that one. I suspect he says this because all evidence indicates he is likely an irrational hateful troll who believes in crazy things like chemtrails being used by the government to control the weather, amongst other things. He spends most of his time here ranting angrily about everyone and everything. I think he's having a "malihini meltdown" as he likes to label it.

It's really going to be a happening place this Sunday with all the farmers extra produce building up. Johnson's farms has the best produce. I'll show around 11:00 after Snorkle has done the center isle streak.

Perhaps allow a little extra time for the wailing and gnashing of teeth to conclude afterward.

Coincidentally, a nice review of the 4 best Hilo-side Farmer's Market from somebody that is proud to call themselves a transplant. Nicely written article. It does point out Hilo Farmer's Market has a street to split CRAFTS from FOOD, while Maku'u is "hard to describe, partially farmer's market".

Actually, the pakalolo Farmer's Markets are the best and have the best vegetation around, plus the prepared food is so ono all da time.

I completely understand. The last time I went to a market I got there with the intention of buying some carrots and green beans. Unfortunately, I became confused and arrived back home having bought a teapot and a nice decorative bracelet.
Something must be done!

Hilo market is way too cramped, especially the food side. I second whoever said Maku'u needs more seating!

Today the traffic to Pahoa was backed up halfway to Ainaloa from people trying to turn left into the market, so I change my "wish list" from more seating, to anything that alleviates the blocked traffic (potentially including emergency vehicles). An affordable annual "wave them through" pass might help. The community didn't have these problems before the $1 parking fee was implemented. Added to this mess was some people who had parked in the grass across the street and were trying to walk cross the highway. It was a huge cluster pluck. Hopefully the market has good insurance for when their spectacle causes a traffic fatality.
