"Walmart TP was still wiped out today. Glad I keep stocked up!"

They had plenty at 9AM. I didn't go down the aisles but the end caps were full. Pallets of water everywhere which was weird with no hurricane coming. I did go to the medicine area and most of the cold/flu/pain remedies were gone but they still had some. They weren't sold out but they might be sold out of one's favorite remedy.

My advice is to go early in the AM.

"I knew a guy here with TB, told to self-quarantine and wear a mask if he had to go in public. He chose not to wear a mask when going to Walmart, too embarrassing I guess..."

(Skip paragraph if you don't have a sense of humor) I tried wearing a surgical mask and let me tell you they are COMPLETELY ineffective. Nobody was avoiding me. I put a hockey mask on and it was night and day different! People were going out of their way to avoid me. I felt safe.

50% more men than woman die from COVID-19. The question was asked, is it because men don’t wash their hands as often as women? (if public restrooms are any indication, men are reluctant and inconsistent hand washers:

HOTPE, according to the BBC, it's not just hand washing, but the general tendency of men not to take as good care of themselves as women. This ranges from smoking more to visiting doctors less and a lot of other variables. Makes sense to me.

smoking more.. visiting doctors less... other variables.

Yes.
Possibly even hormones, estrogen.
The cause is unknown, the possibilities are myriad. I just mentioned one that we can address easily & immediately.

Part of the trouble currently is that the data is heavily skewed towards China's population as they have the most cases. In China, 62% of males have smoked, compared to only 3% of women. Smoking both negatively impacts lung function as well as increasing expression of the ACE2 cell receptor that this virus uses to enter lung cells.

In short, smoking is more common for males in China which could result in a higher fatality rate from COVID-19 for multiple reasons.

I haven't seen fatalities by gender for Italy yet, but it would be interesting(?) to see if this pattern continues and if it can be related to smoking rates as well. (Sorry if that sounds clinical... there is clearly a tragedy unfolding there...)

Is smoking weed just as bad as tobacco when it comes to Covid complications? (See, I brought it back to Puna.)

House Speaker Scott Saiki has appointed 26 members of the Select House Committee on COVID-19 Economic and Financial Preparedness, which is scheduled to hold its first meeting this week.

Saiki and Bank of Hawaii President Peter Ho will be co-chairmen of the panel, which will be tasked with developing short-term and long-term mitigation plans to try to deal with the economic fallout from the coronavirus scare.

Skipping right past "publc health".

Have they already read the full color pamphlet? Was something left out? Like if they don’t take care of public health in a meaningful fashion, they won’t have customers?

Probably not well studied yet - maybe the US and Canada are especially qualified to answer this (if we ever get some substantial testing done)

short-term and long-term mitigation plans to try to deal with the economic fallout from the coronavirus scare.

They could put the general budget into CoronaCoin cryptocurrency - should turn a profit as it increases in value as more people fall ill or die. (no this is not a joke)
