This is a really good video. For those wondering how the virus might spread in Hawaii and what various numbers might mean when looking at infections in the state, this will tell you:
https://youtu.be/Kas0tIxDvrg Obviously right now we only have two known victims, so it's not really relevant right now, but as the number of infections increases, it will give you a handle on how to interpret the numbers.

Thanks... that was interesting.
Assume the best and ask questions.

No problem, I'm glad you found it interesting. I suspect most of the media don't understand this sort of thing and of course that's where people get their news, so watever news sources you read and see headlines about the virus numbers jumping, spiking, or whatever, watch the video and understand it is expected and not a surprise. In the meantime, keep calm and carry on. Wash your hands and attempt to isolate yourself as much as possible if you are ill. The quicker we get to that inflection point the better for all of us.

"But if no one is worried, that's when you should worry." https://www.latimes.com/california/story...an-antonio "“We’re past the point of containment,” Dr. Scott Gottlieb, commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration during the first two years of President Trump’s administration, said on CBS’ “Face the Nation.” “We have to implement broad mitigation strategies. The next two weeks are really going to change the complexion in this country. We’ll get through this, but it’s going to be a hard period. We’re looking at two months, probably, of difficulty,” Gottlieb said." Worried enough yet?

Looks like they are well past the inflection point in China.
They may be (their numbers are very suspect). Even if they truly have, it's because of putting 700 million people under some form of movement restrictions, mandatory testing, forced quarantines, temperature checks during all forms of public interactions, arrests for not wearing masks, rapid building and acquiring of hospitals and no-treatment quarantine centers, and large scale disinfecting of public spaces and whole cities. Do you see any of that going on here? If not, why should we expect to reach a similar threshold anytime soon? Yale doctor that worked on Ebola outbreak is predicting that the critical care needs for COVID-19 will exceed the available beds and ventilators in the U.S. in a matter of weeks. https://www.facebook.com/berniesanders/v...2719390116

If you do not feel that the State is addressing this crisis adequately tell the governor. He can be reached here: https://governor.hawaii.gov/contact-us/c...-governor/ I personally feel we should be on lockdown. Every new arrival should have to be quarantined. Period. We are not the mainland. We could control and contain, if our political representatives want to. As it is all I see is a silly effort to keep the tourist industry from crashing. Which is a joke. The industry is crashing.

tell the governor
Just be sure to speak as loudly as tourism. A few billion dollars should help. |
