Volcano Acting Up #2
#81
Here's some pics from last night.
http://www.kohledfusion.com/hawaii/rava03042008

I named this little Ohia "Glen" Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin
http://www.kohledfusion.com/hawaii/rava0...10158.html

These movies and photos are hosted on my OWN site, so please just view them once & don't send the link around off Punaweb yet. I need to keep my site bandwidth under the limit.
I'm slowly moving the movies to YouTube & pics to Punawebfriends...I'll give the all clear when they can be shared with the public.

Aloha,Hooligal!
There was Yahoo "Puna friends" created for this forum members by oink(?)to post pictures and City-data.com (Hawaii section) forum allows to post Hawaii-related pictures.
Buy the way,a question for you as a computer expert:
when I use Firefox on "Punafriends" I can not view any pictures at all.It says"album is empty".No problem with IE.Is Firefox problem fixable?
Sometimes it doesn't show the picture, but right clicking/view helps. But on Punafriends nothing works.
I think FF is just being "too secure" since the "pictures" can be something else..

Hi StillHope!
FF shows images fine for me on Firefox's default settings, so I suspect it's a funky setting somplace in your preferences. My best guess is...
CHeck to see if any urls with 'yahoo.com' are in your Preferences->Content->Load Images Automatically->Exceptions list. I'm using a Mac, so PC settings may be a little different.

Smile Erin

StillHope,
I did get your email and I apologise for not answering. I confess that I don't check that mail often. I also confess that I don't know poop about FireFox. Lastly, I confess that I didn't start, nor do I maintain Puna Web Friends. That honor belongs to Ed Smay.

Huligal,
Nice pics, I enjoyed them.
Thanks

It's quite OK,oink.I understand that some people actually have a life. Thanks,Hooligal, for suggestions. So far nothing wrong with my settings. It was another very interesting thing - the e-mail from the architect I contacted came unreadable-all the text was covered with the pictures of her projects.Again,it doesn't happen all the time.
Never mind, this thread is about volcano, not the FireFox,though if the fox comes close to the volcano...

when I checked the Halema`uma`u webcam (http://hvo.wr.usgs.gov/cam3/) last night in the dark, the glow from the vent was much more evident than I had previously observed. I'm sorry I didn't capture an image.

There was glow at 5:30AM HST, 8:30am here. When Pu' u O'o was glowing there were several vents glowing each night. Now no glow there at all!

Here are some cool pics from yesterday the infared is interesting, and so is the Pele's hair on the curbs.

nasa posted a cool satellite pic of the current summit activity here..

and.. as a note to those that wish they could get closer than the steaming vents overlook.. to sit and appreciate the gas billowing out of the new halemaumau vent.. to listing to the roaring in the night while being mesmerized by the incandescent glow... or just hanging around with the throngs of tourists all going oooo and aaa during the middle of the day.. it should be noted that the national park has re-opened access to the jagger museum.. the view is spectacular!
