Vaccination Resolution
#11
Perhaps kjlpahoa would share with us a list of Councilwoman Naeole-Beason's proudest accomplishments?

Over the past three years I have asked Emily's staff to be put on a call list or email list for District 5 notices of meetings, news and events. All I have been told to date is that they do not do that.

It is hard to be well informed when the District 5 office makes little or no effort to keep people informed.
Assume the best and ask questions.

The health and welfare of the constituents is a local issue. It does not matter if one agrees or disagrees regarding the issue of vaccinations. BTW, that technology sounds interesting. My intent is not to explore the issue, but to just bring to light that Emily listens and takes action.

Vaccinations are not and were not local issues. The CoH has zero say on the subject. Meanwhile a primary adviser to Emily on vaccines has a financial interest in the subject. For approx. $50 per eight ounce glass of mineral water he offers his own "powerful immune support... that can only be produced using special sound and light technologies". It is a multilevel marketing scheme which benefits from building and generating fear of medical vaccinations.

I'm rather surprised that kjlpahoa wants to explore this subject. There's lots of fascinating things about it all.

That "technology" sounds like the purest snake oil.

Doesn't Emily have staff who can research what constituents put forward to her? If I tell her I want a County resolution against alien abductions will she make herself look foolish with that too?

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Kim Jong-il, Sheikh SHARIF Sheikh Ahmed, and General Than Shwe all claim they listen and acted on what “citizens” requested. Are you saying that listening and acting is itself enough to overcome the stupidity of the ACTION? By that standard, all politicians are to be commended for listening and acting, even if their actions are against the best interest of the people. Political accountability starts and ends not with what a person wants to do, who they listen to, how often they act, but by their actual actions. If the action was a piece of moronic writing, that’s a direct reflection of that politician.

I don't blame you for not wanting to explore the issue considering outside of the Hawaii County political arena it would be cause to question the mental stability of a person. But you did raise the issue first and if you really believe it was a good thing, you should be able and willing to back it up. But, since you have stated that there were other positive action on the part of this politician, (even though your first attempt was to start off with probably one of the most embarrassing action this politician has done), highlighting more positive actions could go a long way to mend the “village idiot” image this politician has now become know by.

I have the respect for Emily that a fairly elected representative of the people deserves.
I do think she should be more careful with choosing her staff. Someone has been giving her some very very bad advice.

I have talked to Emily, and she politely listens, but doesn't act on the suggestions that many others and I make. Please list the accomplishments of the Councilwoman that are concrete and don't involve items already in the pipeline when she took office or were pushed through by the state or others. Why can't she and her staff do something so simple as maintain an email list to inform constituents of events and Council business that pertain to us? I used to admire Emily, but I have come to the conclusion that she isn't effective in the job.

I think that pjlpahoa has some sort of personal or business relationship with Emily, just like I suspect that several other recent new members of the forum who have posted similar writing styled posts praising Emily do as well.

But, maybe they are all the same person? [?]

You mean like a PR lobbyist?
I guess that would be slightly better than a staffer posing as a private person to promote a politician’s image without disclosure.

No, They most likely do some quality control at the entry level. but, they are the conduit to the whole Council. At the Council level is where it gets the thorough quality control via the Committee hearings and the Council at large. This is also where all County constituents have input for further quality control. If the Council passes a resolution, there must be some merit to the issue. If not, we need a total recall of all members.

Is a councilperson then supposed to introduce a resolution about everything any constituent contacts them about? They can't do some quality control first? If not, then what is their purpose?

Where are you coming from? Who are you referring to? I think what you are implying is way off base.
