We don't even use Hawaii Telecom and there was one in the middle of our drive.
Tony pointed out that it's an island and how many of these do we need? But each year, like clockwork, we get another one rain or shine! It's all good.

You don't need to wait in line at the pahoa Post Office; they have the stack of phone books at the end of the counter to pick up. They try and ask if people are there just for the book and direct them, but are usually very busy and sometimes overlook it.

I keep a phone book in my car since having a cell phone but no number to call is kinda useless. Even if you don't use their service, there are still a lot of numbers listed you'd probably want to call.

Just remember guys, Hawaiian Telcom is the OFFICIAL phone book. All the other phone books buy the data from Hawaiian Telcom and sell advertising in their books to make a profit.

There's also this thing called the internet that can be used to look up numbers. You can often find descriptions of services, addresses, pictures and everything! Check it out! Seriously though I can't remember when I've needed one in the past 5 years, but I still keep them when they get delivered just in case (of what, I'm not sure).

Semi-rural rural mainland had phonebook delivery much like here.... some of the neighborhoods had delivery to the door, unless a locked gate or mean dog.... nice dogs & openable gates, book was on the stoop (ours here does too).
Just a note, I had a store over a decade ago, still get calls from those that 'found the number on the internet'... The main phone directory took it off when the number was changed to my cell.... but not the internet.... if you didn't pay to get on the list, good luck getting off....
Oh, and I am still listed on many internet directories at my old mainland address, been here 5 years now....
