Sucks!
When I almost bought in Leilani, they told me on and on about the great HOA that takes care of problems like roaming dogs, that it was the one subdivision with really good CC&R's that are enforced.
Why isn't the HOA on top of this?

Kathy, if I correctly recall, you asked this earlier. Perhaps you asked the wrong q first: "Have you called the LECA office and reported this?" (Office only open 7 am-noon, btw.)"If so, what was their reply?" For Pam Jones, I guess.
Best of luck for having this cease asap before some person also gets hurt.

Yes I asked it before, but nobody answered, and the discussion says there are no enforcement options, so I asked again. I think the idea of calling the HOA was implicit in my question and there's no need to phrase the perfect question.
btw, I was told all this good stuff about them back in 2003, so they could easily have changed.

I don't know if the dogs are registered or not but I did report it to the humane society (a rep came out and talked to the owner), the neighborhood association and the person in charge of neighborhood watch. I talked to the lady who owns the dogs and she promised they would never be "let out" again (unless they were on leash) and blamed her daughter for letting the dogs out in the first place. I have heard the dogs being called no less than 3 times in the past 6 days. Oh, and the owner is supposedly a, are you ready for this, dog trainer! AND she admitted that one of the dogs was, "accustomed to hunting wild chickens." The Sassy sisters were very domesticated and minding their own business in their chicken condo.

In most agricultural areas (of the world?--certainly on the mainland) it is considered OK to trap or shoot any dog harassing livestock.
Why should it be different here?
Several years ago a dog from down the street killed several of my chickens. I told the owner and never saw the dog again. I think they may have killed it.

Home owners associations are as limited as individuals when it comes to animal control. Their options are to notify the police or the humane society. Our HOA also has a large trap that is minimally effective, and must be set on private property.

If you would like the police to show a little more interest, try telling them the dogs are growing pot or riding around on atv's. That might get their attention. Hope someone gets a laugh or two off my suggestion.

Here is another reason why the police won't respond to loose dog reports.
According to our CPO, they are all on duty in Kalapana to keep looters from ripping off the people who have been evacuated.
Compare having your chickens that shouldn't be in a residential neighborhood eaten to having every thing you own stolen !!
