"If I was groped by these TSA clowns, I'd grope them right back."

Smile Great advice, punaticbychoice! Why didn't I think of that??

AlohaSteven, you're right on. This is just another insult on top of mountains of insults upon the people in the name of "security" for those who choose to believe this illusion. All of these supposed ploys to keep us secure do absolutely nothing for our actual security, but it works great at creating fear and misinformation. Traveling used to be fun. Our families used to be able to wait with us at the gate and wave good bye from the window as the plane pulled out. Nowadays, we're treated like criminals. What happened? Please don't freakin' tell me about terrorism or I will explode! Yes, follow the money and it will always lead us to white collar crime.

Good ol' Ron Paul. He should've been our president.

The very same people who wanted us all to abandon every civil liberty we have for the sake of "security" are now crying over these machines, which have been in the works for a long time, and the pat-down process which is an administrative search under the Fourth Amendment. The reason they are doing this is not because they care about your civil liberties but because TSA employees were recently given collective bargaining rights and because they are government employees. This isn't about anyone's "junk". It is an sidelong attempt to privitize the TSA and, I fear, a purposeful intent to weaken our nation's defenses in anticipation of the next presidential election. Just remember -- the same people crying about this and politicizing this are the same people that turned us into a nation of shoe-removing travelers, undressing before security and getting dressed again after security. What a spectacle. Other nations don't have to do this. Could it be we have to do this because we, as a nation, go running around the globe figuratively touching, grabbing, and then removing other people's junk?

Anyway, on my way to Hawaii, I was all alone in the security line because it was very early and I began my journey in a commuter terminal. And that was my first encounter with this thing. I was told to put my feet where the little painted feet were on the floor. Doing that forces you to spread you legs a little, as if you were getting ready to do a jumping jack. Your arms go out, too. I forget if they went up or over. Because I was all alone at the time, I didn't think twice about it. I wasn't any the worse for wear for the experience, although I will submit to the patdown next time. And I will let them touch my junk. It was just a year ago a guy got on a plane with a bomb in his underwear and those that are screaming "invasiva pat down!" were screaming then that the underwear bomber should never have been allowed on the plane.

As a side note, I don't want any snakes on a plane. Couldn't live with that. Imagine if Hawaii had snakes! Yikes!

On my way back I simply walked through the rectangular thingy at the Hilo airport. As I did my only thought was Aloha for Now and this man and his ukulele: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJC5hEshvO8

Looks like the choices are to be "nuke or grope" security lines should be marked as such

I am surprised no one has yet exceeded TSA's expectations and stripped themselves naked yet. You'd think there would be at least one streaker among the traveling public.
Assume the best and ask questions.

Rob,
I'm seriously thinking about it. What if EVERYBODY in the security line started stripping all at once?! That'll make the news for sure! Smile
