Well, we can agree on the excellence of Richard Pryor. Some of his stuff in the 70's is as good as it gets.

I think of current comedians Louis C.K. comes closest to having that kind of sharp humor with humanity behind it.

I find that MOST of Punawebbers are indeed liberal and NOT racists. Attend any of our functions and see how everyone gets along with everyone else. Those of us who are most liberal are simply bored with the Lack's ridiculous trolling. He does this to get a rise out of people and most of us don't bother to rise to the occasion. I only write, hawaiideborah, to reassure you that this is a place of love, kindness and acceptance. There is always someone who is so sad and lonely that they need to spoil what others are doing just to get attention. Don't let this send you away. Punaweb is a wonderful place both in cyberspace and here in our lovely East Hawaii.

This is like recess at an elementary school. Now I remember why I went from participating for years on Punaweb to just reading. I feel sorry for Rob Tucker. It's become a full time job to babysit this web site and monitor all this non-sense. What a waste of time!

I'm sorry to say I've lost hope that this community will come together when the sh*t really hits the fan.

In reading posts from Mauka on this and other threads, it becomes apparent that while he professes to try and follow (his words) Buddhist principles, preaching tolerance, etc. he is full of hate. (search the posts on this and other threads for how many times he recently says he hates America, Republicans, etc. Hate and hatred are strong words for someone who claims to be tolerant of others. I feel sorry for Mauka.
It seems that if anyone disagrees with his stance on guns, he hates them and calls them Republicans or mainland Republicans (lack of tolerance?) which is interesting, because I know a great many Democrats on the island that are pro gun. I guess he hates those folks too.

I think it would be fair to say that everyone has their prejudices whether we acknowledge them or not. It is how we manage them that is interesting.

It is not my intention that Punaweb be free of controversy - as long as people can be civil about it. It is my intention that the Puna community have a place where it can define itself rather than be defined by others. In general my moderating will be done in preference of the community interest as I see it and rarely in the interest of any one individual (including myself).
