Chuysmom,

Mahalo! It's a fun event. Truth be told, I don't really know what the sexual preferences of the Ecstatic Dance crowd might be. How would you tell?

With naked and semi-naked bodies crawling all over themselves in a giant mound of pulsating flesh, people hanging upside down from the ceilings, peering thru bloodshot eyes at no fixed point, it's hard to know. At least to us casual observers.

I'm going to invite the Rotary!

forgot to answer what do I do for fun. bike rides, walking, hiking, gardening, playing with the dog and puppy, exploring new places like the zoo and botanical gardens and areas I haven't seen yet. Hiking in Volcano Nat. Park, doing artwork, making jewelry and glass, beach combing, reading, yoga, painting, writing, hanging with friends, going 4WD to south point and remote places. I don't watch tv with the exception of 2 programs. The tv is often never used for weeks at a time in our house.
I also do love the ocean and swim and snorkel. I go to the beach once a week and walk along the ocean lava cliffs several times a week if not daily, but you asked what to do besides ocean activities.

Sorry you don't seem very happy here.

Good stuff! Yes I m an avid hiker. volcanoes is the bomb!

Night life....depends on what you mean... there are not the all night discos & bars & such, in fact most things do kinda roll up by 9....but this is a agricultural based area, so that should be expected....what we found amazing, even before moving here, was the depth of cultural activities that are available.

We lived outside of Chicago & were active in many cultural & theater societies there, before we moved we did check out what would be possible here, and were amazed at how many presentations we paid Chicago ticket prices for also toured UH-H, the Palace &/or Kahilu Theater... there are shows, Shakespeare in the Park, Hoolauleas, concerts, dance, even opera & symphony performances (before Honolulu Sym broke up ;~(

For party life, most is at homes & carports & by invitation... and there are broad ranges of parties, from mellow game nights to full bore bands on stages in some ones' back yard....

Well there was not much in state of Maine.Im thinking that maybe I will go to that Kalani place and get half naked and have blood shot eyes and mesh and melt with the other dancers? Sounds like a game plan.

Who says anyone has to justify living in Hawaii?
If you aren't good company for yourself, you won't make it anywhere. Sounds like you feel you need other people to have a good time. Looks like you already know where you want to be.
