Fence, and leash?
#41
On the subject of "fence or leash" I can contribute a few words. If a dog is determined to get out of a fence he will probably find a way sooner or later. Sometimes you don't know until it actually happens and you see a little hole under the fence and you dog is gone. If the land the fence was built on was bulldozed flat and especially if it has cement under it then maybe dogs wouldn't be able to dig out of that particular fence. If your fence is not 100% dog-proof then you can put up 100 foot dog runs for them to stay on when you're not with them but let them run free in the fence when you are with them. I know some will say this is going overboard but I've seen lots of lost dogs over the years and it's a sad sight - much sadder than them being on a long dog run. Dogs are like little kids - you have to take care of them and most people cannot afford to buy fencing.

Humane society over by HPP has a great flyer that outlines Hawaii dog law - was left our driveway entrances by same, in response to barking and loose dogs in the 'hood as a gentle warning............

If my dog bites you, you deserved it. Live with some aloha and stop trying to control things and people with new laws.

Seriously? This might be the most ridiculous statement I've ever seen on punaweb.

Guess you have never met a well trained dog.

Not likely.
This thread is ridicules and full of control freak fear mongers. The dogs on this island all need a lot of exercise because they have been tied up, that is the problem. So lets encourage the 70% of people that own dogs to let them off the leash, let them get some exercise and give their pets the reward of obedience. As for those of you that wish to banish dogs, why don't you worry about banishing the ever more dangerous and not friendly automobile. I am gonna go outside and throw the ball for Hank a member of my family, as dogs are in most American families.

True Dat! My new dog is my best friend; she doesn't care if I messed up the slope to the drain in the shower and she's more than happy to devour the meatloaf I burnt for the umpteenth time!

A fence is necessary not because my animals are a nuisanse, but because of other peeps and their animals. I'm in the process of fencing my acre; doing it myself so my process started in 2010 and I'll be done near summer of this year. I stay away from certain breeds but if I had an animal that it so happened that it turned out that it would hurt someone I'd bury it in the backyard. Maile was a rottweiler and Ginger is a Husky.

You can't clean dog pee from a sandy beach where a child may sit, so..

My neighbor's have 2 pitbulls on dog runs; one in the front yard and one in the back. When they bark, it's not a normal bark. It's sounds like a prehistoric creature is being grinded up in my other neighbor's homemade stryrofoam grater he made from a car axle, a lawn mower and half a dozen sharpened potatoe rakes; it's really soul bending!
There's no "e" on the end of potatoe? geeze
