Elections Office

Granddaughter Akaka:

I would hope you would not consider HTH or WHT a "real" newspaper - the ones who printed a story about a meeting with Nago and the inept Clerk that never happened?!

Take the blinders off and SEE!

Ken, I am very interested in knowing what happened. All the evidence I have seen to date seems to indicate that more than one person are involved.
An exclusive focus on any one individual to the exclusion of all others does not serve the public interest.
Assume the best and ask questions.

Let’s start by asking why four very experienced long time election office workers were fired by the individual in question. Then, thru the legal due process afforded these four employees, two have been vindicated and ordered reinstated. Of which, this individual in question has refused to do. Of the remaining two, one has now died.

Then let’s continue with the lack of communication, the lies, and the obfuscation of this individual. Further, we can continue with statement after statement of everything being fine, everything is under control. We can further continue with the Chairman echoing the same statements.

Then let’s discuss the termination of the one temp clerk in Kona a week before the election. And now the surfacing of surveillance tape showing here there on a Saturday night. Let’s further add in the fact that the Deputy was left more or less in the dark – all at the hands of this one sole single person.

Now, yes, I would be foolish to deny that some of the workers screwed up – and yes, some of it may have even been intentional. And now, days before this election – three people are out sick – and as I understand it – one of them has filed a worker’s compensation claim – alleging “terrorizing” by this one sole individual as the claim.

But – that’s what comes with the job – and especially what comes with the person in charge – it’s called RESPONSIBILITY.

Years ago, my Dad, who ran a very successful construction company told me that in order for me to come to work for him I had to go to school – and get a degree in something having to do with running a construction company. I did that. Then he told me I had to get an apprenticeship thru one of the construction trade unions his company employs. I did that. And then he hired me.

Then, after I earned my journeyman’s card, he told me that if I wanted to stay working for him, I had to learn how to run a labor force. No – not how to run a job, but how to run labor. How to make workers who have no beneficial interest in the success of anyone company or in this matter, government – other than their weekly paycheck – but to make the labor force productive and happy – and even more importantly, safe.

To this day, I still am learning how to do that.

That was over 30 years ago – and to this very day, now as the company’s CEO, I find that part of what my father told me to be something no school teaches, no amount of experience educates you for it – but it is something YOU have to do – if you want success.

I remember the first guy I wanted fired as the “Foreman.” The man was a 64 year old journey man electrician. With over 40 years in the field. He was always coming in like 5 minutes late – and when you are constructing a power plant in Montana, the crew has to be “driven” in – by a teamster driving a bus. The worker, unless he wants to walk miles, has to wait to be picked up. That 5 minutes of being late for the bus – makes him 60 minutes late for work. But, due to union rules, he gets paid the whole hour. This went on day after day – no matter who or how many times he was “yelled” at – the next day – same thing.

My dad laughed at me. He asks why we should fire someone who, although not particularly “presentable” in the board room, but with the intellect, knowledge and experience that if left to his own vices, could construct the entire job with his eyes closed. He told me – think about – long and hard – you will come up with a way. But, he said – if you fire him – I will fire you! Well I did come up with an idea. He was relieved of his duties one day exactly one hour short of quitting time. Making him only required to be paid 7 hours instead of 8.

He was on time every day after that.

Trust me – you don’t fire knowledge and experience like that over petty minor issues. And in violation of the union agreement SHE, as the boss, is required to perform under.

This clerk brought on each and every issue this election had. Thru ego, thru arrogance, thru inexperience, thru just about every definition of incompetence there is – this clerk did it.

And – as is only fair to say - aided and abetted by her boss.

She was the boss. She was responsible. As the responsible boss, she did stupid dumb things.

However, she got what she deserved – and still has never taken responsibility for it.

As such, she needs to be fired.

And one more thing - her continued employment is based upon one major issue – she works for the government.

In private business, she would have been fired the day she even thought of firing the initial 4 workers.

Perhaps maybe you could explain why we should NOT fire her?

The race that was thrown into controversy is Akaka vs. Lowen, a difference of 45 votes.

I am not saying Akaka's challenge is valid or justified, but she bases it on the fact that the Governor felt compelled to extend hours at certain polling locations. The Governor did that because of the disarray in the Elections Office on the Big Island.

I wish this person all the best....elsewhere.

Here we go - yet once again: (I ain't making this stuff up!)

http://www.bigislandnewscenter.com/hawai...ef-monday/

And vacation?

VACATION?

WTF?? VACATION???

And note - the more "active role" of the Chairman.

I just can't imagine the other 8 boobs wanting this to be their "legacy."

So the State had a briefing on electronic voting machines and Hawaii County, in the person of Elections Clerk, was the only one unrepresented at the event.

And the Clerk is "on vacation" but is at the Elections Office.

Has everyone seen enough?

Kelena: YES. And now, more "explanation" from Yagong:

http://www.bigislandchronicle.com/2012/0...ions-saga/

Why he is further injecting himself into this is beyond belief. His legacy has become the most screwed up primary in our County's history, under his watch. JMO.

Further, vacation for the clerk? NOW? That is another "first" during election time. Maybe she's looking for her own attorney at this point?

Bloody disgusting. Waiting to see if removal of the clerk AND Yagong from his Chair position is on the next agenda. [Sad!]

The best quote of that article:

Yagong about Onishi:

“He’s not being sincere,” Yagong said.

What a hypocritical self centered arrogant POS!

Good riddance come December.
