The Stolen Valor Act
#21
I think wearing the shirts is perfectly ok as long as if asked the wearer says that they were a gift from my father-in-law.
Usually if I see someone wearing military associated caps or shirts I stop and talk with them to see if our paths may have crossed. Its pretty apparent in a conversation if someone has an association with the military. Once I saw an obituary of a young woman who was mentioned as a Vietnam veteran. She was obviously too young by a few years to have ever served there.
kind regards,

John my father was a WW2 vet, he gave me his truck which had a purple heart tag, while exchanging the title the DMV told me I could keep the tag, which I found strange to say the least. Before I retired we used to run into people who would claim they were nam vets I always found that absurd. The court was wrong in their ruling but nothing we can do about it, but I can make sure I will not claim what I did not earn. I chaged the tag on the truck by the way. Thank you for your service with out it we would all be in trouble.

There was a while there, a number of years back, when it was common, when dealing with a ne'er-do-well, that he would claim to be a Nam vet in an attempt to elicit sympathy. A check of the D.O.B. would quickly prove otherwise and evoke another less favorable emotion. I expect the same will be true after the conclusion of current conflicts.

You've been watching the news... right? The answer is yes. Locally and nationally it's come down to just that: lies.

As for veterans... man, I have nothing but respect. I don't support war by any means, but I vaguely understand the mettle it must take, and certainly don't think I have that mettle. Thank you, veterans. No kidding.
