Anyone tried Allegiant to Honolulu yet?
#11
Actually allegiant let them take off for a direct flight to Hawaii in a plane that was not given clearance by the FAA to fly over the ocean, neither the weather nor mechanical issues were the problem, the plane was simply one that was not OK'd for flying that far. Allegiant claimed they did not have to pay to put people up, my student said his Mom was going to pursue getting reimbursed.

Good luck with getting any compensation from Allegiant. There is no requirement in the USA to provide a hotel room.

Delayed and Canceled Flights
Airline delays caused by bad weather, traffic control problems, and mechanical repairs are hard to predict. If your flight is canceled, most airlines will rebook you on the earliest flight possible to your destination, at no additional charge. If you're able to find a flight on another airline, ask the first airline to endorse your ticket to the new carrier. This could save you a fare increase, but there is no rule requiring them to do this.

Each airline has its own policies about what it will do for delayed passengers; there are no federal requirements. If your flight is delayed or canceled, ask the airline if it will pay for meals or a phone call. Contrary to what many people believe, airlines are not required to do so.

According to this article, Allegiant is trying to find a way to sell tickets that cost more AFTER you purchase them:

I'll be staying away from them, thank you.

Brings back not so fond memories of the ATA / Southwest.

Hilo to the mainland by way of Oakland roues .... almost got beat up by a woman (Oakland local best as I could figure)

She had been cut off and I would not order more alcohol to sneak to her, crew kept avioding eye contact during the badgering .... ATA first class ... certainly never had any pretense of class for me after that flight, grin

We flew Allegiant RT to Vegas last month, I hope I never fly with them again.

Their MD 80 Aircraft are noisy and the seats are the worst I have ever been in. No reclining? Really? Yep! The plane smelled of vomitus, well it is the cattlecars of the airlines. And they use the same 2 planes for all the trips out of Cedar Rapids Iowa to Vegas every day. Flight attendents are great, which was one bright spot for the trip. They kept the Booze flowing for those who wanted it.[:p]

I started out with nothing and I still have most of it.

That might explain the smell of vomitus.

Taking a gamble that fuel prices will go down before you fly does not strike me as being a very smart bet.

Me, I want a firm commitment on the price before I sign on.

You know, I really don't care if the seats recline. The people in front of me always seem to recline their seats and it crowds me. So I don't do it out of respect for those behind me. But leg room is important to me. At 59, I have some leg issues, and room to change leg position now and then really helps.
Thanks for the warning about Allegiance!! I'll stick with Hawaiin.
