but the assessors can pretty much write whatever they want as long as their following policy (they can write one that say they can assess from aerial photos , and you have to grieve it if its not right.

My read suggests that "right of entry" is more-or-less automatic if there's an "emergency" and/or the right kind of complaint -- which is subjective.
Better question might be: how much money was spent on the (proprietary) image analysis software when images from Google Earth are more than adequate for a system in which you have to defend yourself from the County's assertion -- there's no need for enough resolution to count square footage, just compare "was it already there" with "are there permits on file". Ah, well. On with the revenue grab! |
