Anyone tried Allegiant to Honolulu yet?
#21
I couldn't find a price without a flight motel package, but I did see a news release where they were flying Seattle to Honolulu for $99. Since it is only a few dollars less that $1,000 to get a round trip from my local airport, I think I could manage to sit upright for the flight for $99.

Birdmove makes a good point about the seat in front. If that is reclined, the seat back is about 3 inches from my nose. Not all that comfortable, either.

Honolulu-Portland on Hawaiian is often only $179. Based on what I've heard about Allegiant, I'd be willing to put up the extra $80. Hawaiian's long distance flights are also better than most of the bigger carriers.

Thanks for the warning about Allegiance!! I'll stick with Hawaiin.

It would be Ok if the seat was comfortable, but not sitting straight up. I understand about the reclining issue believe me, but if they were all reclined back just a bit more it would be fine. I paid $19 apiece extra to have the front left pair of seats for additional leg room, and then endured the air vent blowing 50 degree air at the floor level. I wish I had not paid extra for that, those seats should have been bargain seats. Also very noisy, I am assuming because they were close to where the air intake is. We got seats in row 6 on the way back same side and they were plesant and not noisy. Same airplane. Allegiant may be the economy leader, and giving $99 flights is not going to last, it's just advertising. [Wink]

I started out with nothing and I still have most of it.

Any recent stories about Allegiant?

Their flight HNl-Santa maria is 1/2 what everyone else is charging to LA or SF, and of course we need to go in June when the flghts prices are up already. And I dont mind a short drive down the coast through Santa Barbara but want some feedback.

Should i be scared? and also they dont answer their C/s line.

I just booked a flight to portland for 480 bucks in June returning next month...

Things I considered.

1) They don't fly to PDX, you gotta get off in eugene. So, not only would I have to figure out how to get from eugene but also get back for the return trip ...

2) So they have cheap prices going from honolulu to Wherever they fly... But you still gotta spend 150 minimum to get to honolulu from hilo/kona so... that cheap price even if it was 200 bucks round trip, factor in the r/t interisland now it's 350 r/t.

3) I don't think I could handle 7 hours in the air with my back cranked upright for that long. I can barely tolerate hawaiian so that sucks for me.

So for me... saving 150-200 bucks isn't worth it. But if you don't have back problems and sitting in a smaller tighter seat isn't a problem then... This might be for you.

I'm not a hawaiian fan. Yeah, it's an ok airline but it could be better. But then to me, all airlines could be better. I hate to admit it but I'd rather sit in a dentist chair than jet chair for any length of time. They all suck and comes about out about the same ... about 4-500 bucks no matter what chair you choose!
