Shots fired in Leilani
#11
I am so sorry to hear this news. It is crazy times right now all over, that is for sure. Thank you Lupie, and all of our good Puna neighbors who are vigilant and who care. Together, we make a difference. What general area of Leilani was this? Upper by highway, or lower, Malama or Kahukai side? May we all shine our light and put out high vibration, and may the rest of the holidays be peaceful, joyful, safe, and loving for all beings. Seems efforts to get Hawaii off of the "number once meth state in the U.S." would be a priority with officials. It's so sad to know so many are losing their lives and affecting others (us) with this rampant problem that leads to so much crime. Sad

I really appreciate these news flashes so that all of us can be vigilant against the crime that is going on here in Puna. Stay safe and please don't live in fear. I like the way Opihikau and gypsy confronted the burglars. Maybe it's dangerous but I myself will not show fear to any criminal who comes on my place and I would have the tendency to chase them off with my walking stick just like the dogs they are.

Now shots heard off Kaloli and 10th (or 9th) ten shots heard. Describing the responsible right now. May be fireworks. Second call, Kaloli right on 16th. Geeze. (7:01pm - 7:26pm on scanner; Yes, I have no life, but protecting my ohana and my space. Ugh!)

Lupie, LOVE Chicago (not just the city!) You'll be fine. No matter where we are, just stay aware of everything. Different times. (Shhh... not going into the Amendment 2 issue, but I'm a believer.) JMO.

gypsy69, great way to handle. These punks need training somewhere, and somehow. The only scary thing is this punk hid in a warehouse until the cops left, with an ax.[:0] At 56 (and a "girl"), it's time not to chase the SOB (which I did, yelling and swearing like a truck driver) whose head is screwed with ice or something of the kind. It was so invasive, when he dropped the bike (after I stood in front of it), and started running, I was pissed, really pissed(sorry for language).
Invade my space with my mo'opuna in the house? Are you kidding me? NO.

However, these kinds of people have no human decency while under whatever influence. Wake up call was he had an ax, waiting in the warehouse. My mistake was not having a weapon of sorts in hand if he turned on me. JMO.

Nana, someone better be with you, you are too precious to deal with these punks alone. As long as you swing your walking stick with both hands, not losing balance, and gain time to scream your lungs out, and just keep swinging on your way to safety!

Kiana, totally concur. We need to help the police, and ourselves in taking care of each other. Neighbors are a wonderful support system, too.

Be well all, and safe, and may we all meet one day in Pahoa town (or somewhere) to do something like this:

Merry Christmas!

wow, opihi! You really did put yourself in harm's way! I understand the reaction, however. Growing up in country on a farm and dealing with charging cows, or bears, coyotes and cougars, I learned to "look big" if I felt threatened. I don't know about a meth addict with an ax !!!! Blessings and Merry Christmas to you, too.

Kiana it was on Pomaikai St. South of Leilani only about 3 or 4 houses in.

By the way... When I was speaking of Chicago... I meant Chicago area. Was actually around Aurora. Great place for gangs. Wink

Hope it was just fireworks. There will be more and more fire crackers this month leading up to new years.
One Thing I can always be sure of is that things will never go as expected.

There were for sure multiple shots fired from a handgun in the paradise kaloli area. The shots I heard were again up around 13-15th st. I have been around fireworks and firearms for a long time. Unmistakable difference to the trained ear.

This is becoming a monthly trend in lower HPP. Heard shots Nov 11th at around 3am. Woke me up. Sounded like they were driving up Paradise dr. letting shots off. Couple months before that, police were everywhere after multiple shots were being fired from a car driving around Paradise and Kaloli. I believe the kids involved were caught that evening in Hilo somewhere doing the same thing, although no mention of them firing shots in HPP, only Hilo.

Go out to Kapoho and the signs down there are riddled with bullet holes. Folks down in Vacation land hear them frequently also. I don't think these idiots understand that those bullets eventually land somewhere.

No offense, but firearms/self defense/etc usually gets way out here. You can do a search and find lots of threads. Many with yours truly commenting.
