Saturday morning at the Hilo Coffee mill farmers market. Love having breakfast there.

Breakfast menu at the Tin Shack looks really good, anyone tried it yet?
They're at the former Lex Brodie's in "old downtown Pahoa".

I second that Nana!
Early morning with the doves and the finches and the canaries competing with the wind rustling through the palm trees as the sunlight peaks through the ohia forest staining the horizon oranges pinks and reds as the percolator bubbles the steaming water through the fragrant coffee grinds.
And my cat explodes with meows until I feed him.
Breakfast at home - the best.

I vote for IHOP. Good service, free birthday meal, yummy food, fair prices.

The Tin Shack in Pahoa has the best coffee if you like it strong, as I do. Their cream cheese and lox on bagel are great! Best bagels on the island. All their breads are home-baked and excellent.
Luquin's always has large portions. Their hollandaise sauce is made from scratch and they use fresh spinach in their omelettes and benedicts. Sal now bakes bread daily: white or whole wheat and both are very yummy.
Across the street from Luquin's is Pele's Kitchen. I wish their coffee were stronger, but I like their eggs with sausage and feta. A little pricey, and toast is not included. They also do a chicken-fried steak, which is not something I'm into, but those in the know claim it's really good.
Ken's in Hilo: love their non-stop coffee, their crab cake breakfast and their snowcrab omelette (light, fluffy, delicate).

If you, or anyone you are having breakfast with is vegan, the Tofu Mexicana at Luquins is the best option, Pele's Kitchen will also take good care of vegans, other than that, there aren't too many options.

Wow and mahalo for all of the responses! Great reads about great eats. Some of these places are new to us, so that's fun. It all sounds yummmmmy . . . can't believe we have not been to Ken's in 13 years here! Home IS the best, but sometimes it's nice to taste something different from another chef's take on things.
