Here in Puna lately, when a flash flood warning is posted, we haven't gotten that much rain. Today, at my house in HPP, it has rained almost none stop with very hard down pours most of the afternoon. Haven't seen any flash flood warnings posted.... Just an observation....

Yesterday there was, as far as I can recall, not a single drop of rain in (lower) HPP.

At 1:42 a flash flood was announced for Hilo, Puha, Ka'u and parts of Kona districts until 4:45 today. I saw it posted on weather underground.

All weather forecasts and storm warnings for Puna are completely accurate ...

... except for the time, which is always off by a few hours or days.

Paul;
Do you think it rains less (in general) in lower HPP than in upper?
Thanks!

There is an area in HPP that is called "The Blue Hole" that is more or less from 10th to the ocean. It is sunnier there than farther mauka.

All I know is that when I drive up to H130 it's usually raining by the time I get to 15th street!

ETA: Don't get me wrong, we had a drenching down here today too.
