Tiffany Edwards Hunt running for Council
#11
I think Tiffany believes she is community oriented. Whether she is or not is in the eye of the beholder....but she once told me outside the council chambers (where I had testified in opposition to her POV) "why do I do this community stuff if I can't get what I want?". She did succeed is defeating a rezoning for a business in Pahoa. She didn't want the competition. While Pahoa has two banks, two pizza parlors etc. she couldn't tolerate anyone else selling competing products.

It was that zoning issue that drove her interest in Mainstreet Pahoa Assoc. We couldn't get her interested in it for two years at all until she figured out it possibly was a vehicle for her to control business creation in Pahoa... and to build some cred for a paying council job perhaps.

I really haven't seen her do anything that didn't have a buck attached to it in some way. To me the perfect campaign sign for Tiffany would be: Tiffany 4 Tiffany.

Assume the best and ask questions.

And yet - we have seen a two time elected Puna Rep - based on fruit hat size, a one time - and now a quazi candidate - if the other position he is a candidate for goes to heck - who ran on weed whacking credentials, and now we have two current Puna Reps - one who only shows up at meeting occasionally the other - well who knows what.

Say what you want about Tiffany. But to me - its the "fight in the dog" that matters.

With Tiffany, you get 110% of that fight - right or wrong. And a rep that will put Puna first.

With the others, well - we clearly get nothing but dog ****.

ah Carol.. I tend to disagree with that one.. i.e. I think everyone has them and the ones that have us thinking they don't are just better actors

Ken, Remember that Tiffany learned her council chops working for Emily Naeole.

Via an "org chart" - yes - it would appear that way.

Rob Tucker's observations are accurate from my point of view. I would add that there are issues of temperment and dealing with people of differing opinions on Edwards Hunt's part. She has banned people from her blog for disagreeing with her when they did not engage in name calling, threats, or the other customary behaviors that get people thrown off. I believed Edwards Hunt banned Punaweb moderator Rob Tucker, saying that he was " [exletive] in my living room." She has threatened legal action against people who have questioned her journalistic abilities or suggested that people not visit her website, citing obscure laws on interfering with business. I believe she even came on Punaweb and did this on one occasion, referring to people critical of her as "haters," but I did a search and could not find it. Deleted? Does anyone else remember this? If not, I'll withdraw my comment, but I do recall it.

Given how diverse the district in question is, how might we expect people of differing opinions to be treated? I think it's question worth asking.

Yeah, she was pissed off because I kept asking for by-lines. I wanted to know who wrote various posts. It is a most basic rule of journalism to identify the writer... something she missed on a lot.

One of her "haters" posts is here:

Yeh - "god" forbid she do something like throw pens at someone, or ask why a voting place that was open was closed!

In as much as it is my opinion that Tiffany would be the best thing this County could ever see - including becoming the Council Chair and then even possibly Mayor, my expectation of that happening right now is 50/50.

Primarily due to a very immature electorate who would intentionally trash their vote for the common good for some totally unrelated issue and allow "do nothings" to be reelected.

Can't wait till the drunk cartoonists and their supporters wake up from their hangovers and start to chime in!

Well let me just say that for many of us "informed" electorate, it is much more complicated that what you have just reduced it to Ken.
