SB2274-Sustainable Living
Now Rob who is "WE" in the "We can tell"? Here is a little quote for you about using the word "we" when there is only one person speaking.

"Only kings, presidents, editors, and people with tapeworms have the right to use the editorial 'we.'"
Mark Twain

So which category do you fall into Rob? Let the people in this forum speak for themselves even if most do hide behind user names.

Rob Tucker quote: "So you don't like Graham."

It is not that I do not like Graham it is that I feel sorry for him. If he had only taken the righteous way we would not have to be here today.

Rob Tucker quote "it is not about SB2274"

Then what have we been discussing here in this forum? Let me pinch myself, click my heels and scroll up to the top of the page and see what the topic is.

I would like to continue this conversation but I have some things to do right now. So get your act together because your responses are very childish what we need to do is focus on the facts of this piece of legislation. Gotta go for now though I may have used up my five post for today yet it was fun!

It would appear we have been discussing your celebration of the defeat of a bill that Graham might have benefited from. God forbid that any solutions might benefit anybody in Puna. Graham still has done more for Puna and the keiki here than just about anyone. You act like it is criminal to devote yourself to a community dream. BTW the SPACE facility was built with the full cooperation of the CoH... it was an election year as I recall.

If he had only taken the righteous way

He tried. County said "no".

Then what have we been discussing here in this forum?

I have yet to see a constructive suggestion offered; the thread runs from "SB2274 is bad" to "Hooray we defeated SB2274" to "County will deny the SUP" to "DLNR investigation", complete with referring to Belly Acres as "greedy parasites".

what we need to do is focus on the facts of this piece of legislation

This already happened, after which the discussion turned away from SB2274.

Not clear how any of this solves the "problem" of people trying to live sustainably.

"I'm bored with you all! You are not dealing with substance just fluff."

<snicker>

Irony.

Personally I think the CoH prefers taking a position of benign neglect... but when people like Sativa are there to press for complete destruction of a community dream they are forced to slooooooowly pretend they are concerned all the while wishing she, and others like her, would go away. You readers may or not know Sativa as a main player in the anti-vaccination hysteria... one of the more embarrassing chapters of Emily Naeole's reign.

Graham and Co. developed SPACE from the days when Seaview was at the far end of the universe. Gradually SPACE got a few close neighbors from the mainland that wanted Seaview to be like back where they came from. So Belly Acres was seriously needled by a newcomer who bought near their entrance and commenced complaining to the county. It got to be such a grudge match that after the guy sold his property and returned to the mainland he still pressed written complaints. Crush those hippies!! How dare they succeed at having fun and teaching kids skills and self confidence!

Didn't he also rent his property to one of the SPACE merchants?

"Damn those hippies ... unless they have a security deposit."

Don't know. I hadn't heard that.

"Benign neglect" is a nice way of saying "ignore the problem; people will either fix it themselves, or give up and/or go away", which seems to be the status quo.

It's certainly a Good Thing that we have organized opposition on-hand to ruin paradise for the rest of us.

For what it is worth: I have spoken and met with Mr. Ellis, and his entourage/minions in the past (years ago, when they first started, and more recently). The "red flag(s)", and "hinky meter", as it were, immediately went up. His feeble attempt to sway my personal belief as to the future of the area was condescending and frankly, insulting.

Our ohana has been there for generations (since the beginning of "time", as in 8, 9, or more generations). He is self serving, and perhaps has done for many children, etc., however, I chose not to be one of his pawns in his goal.

We were taught to walk on the straight and narrow. Do not attempt to circumvent what is right. Ever. (You all know the word "pono", it is overused, thus, choose not to use it here.)

Ruderman fell into the mind set in this instance, due to the perceived "clout" in the area Mr. Ellis holds. Au contraire. Now, we must deal with the crap that comes with politics and who knows who, to do what is needed for pure personal gain.

The land that Ellis encumbers is old, old, territory. It would not be surprising for his "guests" to feel uneasy (it has been expressed directly to my ear, that some of his guests have felt a presence, "uhane" is our word for "spirit".) Not unexpected at all. How you deal with "uhane" is a personal choice.

My kupuna still dictate what we do with our land in the area, without influence from the likes of Mr. Ellis. Perhaps he has done well, however, it may be at the expense of others, and our aina.

At one time, he further insulted Uncle Robert Keliihoomalu. That is crossing the line; in spades. [Sad!] (From Uncle's mouth to my ear. No rumor.). In trying to resolve that issue, Mr. Ellis chose not to deal with it. No return call, no communication. Nothing. Merely an observation of credibility and integrity, of which was not shown to us. At all.

Be careful where you tread, as our Tutu will take that land in one flow. Just saying.

Sativa, I admire your drive and passion, however, insulting Mr. Tucker and others here will not help your cause. You have done well not with only this issue, but others. As an old broad, all I can share again with you is, "it is not what you say, but how you say it". Again, for what it's worth. Never tire or get bored with those of us who are here. We all can continue to learn from each other.

Rainyjim, thank you for hitting the nail on the head! That is, we are hearing from the usual 3 or 4 "anti-ruderman people who want to attack ruderman and don't actually care about the bill one way or the other."
pahoated, I realize I can never do anything correct in your worldview, but when you say "because his buddy that gets a big payoff is on Maui" I really have no idea WTF you're talking about. If you want to know why only Big Island and Maui are included, perhaps you should ask before throwing your mud around.
If anyone has a legitimate question about the bill I will try to answer them.

While I'm at it (Sorry, a tad O/T), "Russell", is it appropriate for an elected official (never mind a decent human being during a debate) in your capacity to say "WTF"? (Bold by me above). Sadly, you have shown on numerous occasions, including this one, that the dignity of an elected official has gone to hell in a handbasket, along with all the other crap we need to deal with in this day and age. "WTF"? Really?

Good God.[Sad!] Have some class, please. You're representing Puna. Or, is that what we have stooped to as a society?

Auwe! Shameful. Hilahila. Plain English: Disgusting.
