Hawaiian Acres Roads
#61
when i last attended the road committee meeting (the one i offered to fund the strip at the blind corner to show 2 way traffic) the president lived on f road, his wife was the office manager of the harc/haca. they were very pleasant but no real buisness was done as one of the visitors, the only one beside myself, was a very mad/aggressive woman who was only there to demand the saturday market was shut down. she monopolized the meeting, was quite rude in her demands. nothing was said about my offer, just they would talk about it at a later date.... they did say they had bought gravel for road 7 and then "caught" someone in a truck, hand digging up the gravel into another truck to take to their road...
they did say road one was supposed to have its own line item on the budget, it was always funded and then the gravel roads, and anyone could have matching funds to do their own repairs, which is why i dont understand them going after someone fixing their road. the committee told me that was part of the deal, that they would match funds on the gravel roads (but not road one).
secondly, this last election of officers for both harc/haca, i received the ballot after the election was over. they asked if i had changed address, but i have had the same po box for over 40 years....

Recent rains have opened a new pothole on "A" road at the corner of 8.

The stretch of A from 8 to 9 appears on the RIL inventory as an official County road, so I'm curious to see how County will justify not repairing it.

do you know who is currently on the road board

I can't even find the time/place of their meetings -- secret society, indeed.

most of HA monies for the last 4 years has been diverted from entire HA road funds to certain peoples places of businesses and rental units off of Rd F.

...all of which have their required Special Use permits, of course, because "the rules are for everyone" right?

Does anyone remember Ted from 6 Rd when he used to patch holes on F?
He used to take sand/gravel that had washed off the road and use said material to fill in potholes along the lower part of F.

What we didn't realize at the time was that he would also take some sand/gravel home with him, where he used the material in the construction of the stone wall in front of his place.
Once the wall had been completed he stopped patching holes on F.

LoL

The road corp lady's name wouldn't happen to be Roberta, would it?

If you are talking about the Roberta I know - she hasnt been road president since the early/mid 90's, just FYI... wow. Twenty years ago now. Time passes fast.

I know. I was the office manager at the time.

8 Road was paved one lane only Hwy to C Road. BIG pothole in there somewhere as I lost a tire on it one morning on my way to work.

The old timers know how much progress has actually been made. And it is a lot.

I go to road meetings as well as association meetings. The road board members are now using the road money to pay for atty fees.$5000.00 to be exact, the association is using a huge amount of the money to pay for insurance, thousands of dollars. so who suffers the members, the community. its a mess and is going to get worse as there is another lawsuit in the works. both organizations brought this upon themselves. the fuel tax is never going to happen, there was a lot of work put into trying to make it work and went nowhere. good recommendation sue the state and fed ,,but who is going to pay the atty fees ,, that is a big money fight against people with endless funds.
the roads didn't get bad overnight, it took total lack of maintenance to reach the horrible point they are at now.
further there needs to be oversight of the funds, that is why receivership is the only solution, then and only then will there be accountability for the funds .Hawaiian acres will not be the first subdivision to go into receivership. it will be a huge step in the right direction for improvements for the community.

The pavement on Crd from 7 to 8 was placed by a former Prez of HARC,and i surmise if he is ever Prez of HARC ever again, this will be his mission,to finish his paving project to his house and then for ever be gone.

Well the people I am talking about dont even live off 7/C (or even B or D) so I dont know how this makes any sense unless you are talking about someone else entirely.
