The acceptance of anonymous campaign contributions is illegal and unless returned to the original contributor, must be given/sent to the Hawaii Election Campaign Fund. It is also illegal to anonymously give money to a candidate.

(a) No person shall make a contribution to any candidate, candidate committee, or noncandidate committee in any name other than that of the person who owns the money, property, or service. (b) All contributions made in the name of a person other than the owner of the money, property, or service shall escheat to the Hawaii election campaign fund. [L 2010, c 211, pt of §2] §11-353 Anonymous contributions prohibited. (a) Except as provided in subsection (d), no person shall make an anonymous contribution to any candidate, candidate committee, or noncandidate committee. (b) A candidate, candidate committee, or noncandidate committee shall not knowingly receive, accept, or retain an anonymous contribution, or report such contribution as an anonymous contribution, except as provided in this section. © An anonymous contribution shall not be used or expended by the candidate, candidate committee, or noncandidate committee, but shall be returned to the contributor. If the contributor cannot be identified, the contribution shall escheat to the Hawaii election campaign fund. (d) This section shall not apply to amounts that aggregate to less than $500 that are received from ten or more persons at the same political function. The receipt of these contributions shall be disclosed in a report filed pursuant to sections 11-333 and 11-335. [L 2010, c 211, pt of §2]

The only way to donate to Tiffany's "Go Fund" me site is by Credit Card.
As such, there can be no "legal" anonymous contribution.

I went to zendokern.com and he is clearly running for re-election. He may not have filed or pulled papers yet but that key word "re-elect" is right there on the site. On the other hand, I know there are a lot of people who think he has been mostly MIA this term, so he may not get all the same votes he got last time. I foresee a Kerns/Hunt runoff and I really hope things don't get personal and nasty. We live on a small island, there really isn't enough room to be nasty to each other without the fallout hitting a lot of other people.

Now it just says "Vote" again , none of the links work , including contact. The link to PayPal still works,perhaps an oversite?

I cut and pasted this straight from the website this morning, it can't be much clearer than that. As far as links not working, he may have been hacked, it wouldn't be the first time in politics for that to happen, or maybe his webmaster is rebuilding the site for the election. I just don't see someone posting "Re-elect Zendo Kern to Hawai'i County Council District 5" if they don't intend to run. Carol
