Ken,
You accuse me of character assassination, but that would consist of spreading lies.
I am examining character as words and actions have revealed it over the last year. I find character important. YMMV.

if your psyche to elect the next representative in the District I live in (I don't know what district you live in) is based upon one misspelled word
I made the comment in response to your tout of her thoroughness in taking care of details, not as an overarching critique of her fitness.
I found it noteworthy because this is not just any word, but rather the name of the district she plans to represent. It's not in just any context; it's on her official campaign page. That is what I call slop, which is the antithesis of thoroughness.
We all make typos. I make them too, every day. It's not a sin. However, a campaign page is not the place to publish a typo that turns the district name into a wild cat or possibly an athletic shoe. If it does happen, then fix it.
Tiffany is an editor. She has been trained to proofread and catch these things.
She's an editor and a journalist, but she wrote up her crowd-funding page with all lower case i's. Is she courting the illiterate vote? She is not e. e. cummings.
My district? District 1. My councilperson is Val Poindexter. She has done a great deal for her district, and accomplished it with humility, respect for all, willingness to listen, and never whining about the time she puts in -- all traits of character Tiffany would do well to begin cultivating if she wants a career in public service.
quote:
Has Tiffany pissed people off? Of course she has. Have you pissed people off? Without question.
The latter is irrelevant. To paraphrase Rob Tucker, I am not running for office, whereas Tiffany is. Burning bridges on a frequent basis can affect one's ability to serve well. It is a relevant part of the record for that reason.
The real concern is not whether she has pissed some people off. Strong minded people often will piss others off. People with integrity can piss others off.
The concern is WHY and HOW she has done so.
Some of the factors: Self-interested agenda, refusal to hear constructive criticism, even from supporters. Censorship of discussions while pretending they are open. My way or the highway mode of operating. Using her supposed news outlet to virtually stomp her feet and throw tantrums when people disagree with her. Shaming people publicly just because she can. Publishing communications not meant for public consumption, etc..
I would not vote for someone who behaves like this and does not see any need to change the behavior. She only wants encouragement to stay exactly the same as she is. If she were to have a genuine epiphany about her recent behavior, I would be very happy to re-evaluate her character.
It is striking that in all your posts, you never actually address these specific criticisms. All you do is say that they are not important to you, and shouldn't be important to me.
Each person who posts here has a right to pick the criteria that matter for their own support of a candidate. You have yours and I have mine. Not once have I ever tried to persuade you not to vote for Tiffany. Feel free!
My issue is, I think Puna deserves better, and I think the rest of the Councilpersons will have an easier road if they get a different colleague. That is why I'm so vocal in opposition. She may well get elected, but I very much doubt she would get re-elected.
I believe she is running this term because she wants the salary. She has mentioned many times in the last year that the blog and paper are not financially viable.
She has years ahead of her where she could enter public service after fulfilling her role as the mother of young children, so why now?
