Hawaiian Acres Pizza
#21
That's why the PCDP is really a dead letter.

Unfortunately PCDP has been given the "force of law" -- on the plus side, Planning contends that the PCDP "has no legal merit" (when it suits them), while also citing PCDP as the reason "everything belongs in a commercial center" (when it suits them).

population "adjacent" to Hilo on Rt 130 and Hwy 11- make these 45,000 people go to Hilo

Not a problem -- those people chose to live a rural lifestyle, so they implicitly accept every trip to Hilo. There's already a gridlock "rush hour" on both highways. Progress!

Don't forget, there are 45,000 of us in Puna

In theory, if Puna has a larger population than Hilo, progress should follow.

So far, it doesn't.

Planning likes to put big prerequisites on Puna progress. Current example: Bryson's can rezone their 9 acres for a new shopping center ... just as soon as State finishes the roundabout. DOT was supposed to break ground almost a year ago.

I won't be back in the Acres for another 9 months so do blow this spot up on the internet. I would love to have an underground pizza stop in my area. Fortunately it seems the authorities don't seem too quick to get on the ball in Puna.

I can get a pretty good idea just by looking at their operation. No guarantees but there aren't any anywhere. Street food was pretty common in the community I usually worked. For the most part it was pretty sanitary. On the other hand, I had the Health Dept close down a restaurant after I shined a light through the window late one night and observed a full blown rat festival. Most restaurants don't really get inspected enough to give any quality assurance. Seeing restaurants leaving frozen chickens out all night to thaw at room temperature was kind of disturbing. I wouldn't eat there.

When I do get there, it will hopefully be a build your own pizza potluck with a few "friends" over for a get together. Don't see anything wrong with that. We talk story and share what's up in the 'hood, casual Punaweb style, just no fights please!

Are you a human being, or a human doing?

Isn't this the first weekend it is happening or has the pizza thing been going on awhile? Lets all go tonight and make it a party. Oh yea and OINK: Do you live in Hawaiian Acres? It's not like you can just drive by and see the pizza on display roadside and tell if it is sanitary or not. It is an out-of-the way drive to the fellow's house to dine in or pick up.
