Mahalo B, for steering us all back to empathy.

I'm freakin' fearful (just bought an uzi), but focused on past (as opposed to future) whatevahs.

You guys make me laugh.

You don't even know your own laws, and you think IM the one that won't last.

Your also the same ones that said "oh you won't find work" and "it's too expensive to live here"

You would think by now I've proved you wrong enough!

The HOVE shooting does not qualify to be included in this discussion.

The thief stole some marijuana and ran down the driveway - the home owner shot him in the back.

Shooting someone in the back is always going to get you in big trouble...

POG - go crawl back under your rock. With nothing positive to add - you keep sounding like PWs Oscar the Grouch.

I am here to say, that, if someone forces their way into my home (and it did happen to me via smashing through my kitchen door), then my life (and the lives of anyone in my home) dam well IS in danger. I was armed and was able to handle the situation (Nov 1st 1976 near Seattle) because I WAS armed and was ready, willing, and able to shoot the fool. I, thankfully, did not have to, and was able to turn him over to the Police, who took him off for a short stay at the big house.

Oneself,

"You guys make me laugh."

These are the people you will be living with for however long you stay here. You should try and remember that. "You guys" already suggests you consider yourself on some other level telling the locals what to do and it's a recipe for disaster.

Have some respect for those that have lived on the island for so long, there's much you can learn from them.

Well, actually Tom - the mainland transplants who moved here in the '70s, '80s and '90s did nothing to challenge the status quo are exactly the ones who are responsible for the many backwards situations that exist today. By embracing the 'island lifestyle' of not complaining and going with the flow - you are enablers to this 2nd world 'state'. Hawaii is really more akin to Puerto Rico than it is to any other state I have visited. There is no great push for social, political or cultural change here, just a 'leave it the way it is' mentality. Don't judge Oneself because he sees room for improvement, perhaps ask yourself why you do not.

Yeah Tom ... Here's another gem. ... "I know its small town, but its not high school. I am probably the youngest one in this forum, I'd prefer to not be the one that has to say what is childish and what is not..."
