Primal,
Hawaii kind of operates under its own ideas, but you would have a hard time finding an area with the high amount of break ins you have here, without going to the ghetto. HPP is not the ghetto. Were not talking about people living on top of people. These are nice lots in a nice area, it could be kept safer if people were just willing to do so.
Many call Puna the "wild west", for one of the reasons being that police really care less what happens here....So, tell me, what happened to home invaders in the Wild West ?

Home invasions, something I have had experience with, are quite rare in Puna.
Burglaries are not so rare.
There is a difference between the two.
Assume the best and ask questions.

Def a BIG difference between the two, and also how you can legally combat the intruders.
The past three in Puna have been home invasions.,as is topic of the original post.

While three home invasions certainly deserve attention that is 3 out of 20,000 homes. Keep things in perspective.

Home invasions around Pittsburgh were not Rare. They almost always involved drugs, gangs or some domestic type crime of passion. Home invasion just as a means for robbery I believe is quite rare most places. That seems to be the difference here in Puna. Drug addicts on the mainland willing to commit armed robbery like to stick to the 7 11 type stores or go right after the pharmacy. If they just want some quick cash they usually just hide in the bushes and jump you as you go by its a lot easier than strong arming your way into a house with so many variables. My guess would be these homes have been targeted for specific reasons. Such as knowledge of particular items or large amounts of cash high end electronics etc. Is there a public record of the items taken from these robberies. Is there a common thread of workers, Individuals with the old I broke down story etc. There are some smooth criminals out there addicts have lied cheated and stole from most every one they know for a long time and can be well practiced in the art of deception. For some reason all the long time tweekers don't have rotten teeth and the nervous twitch

Those three got all of the attention. There have probably been 20-100 small reported & unreported burglaries during the same time period. Just not written up in the newspaper.

By the ghetto, do you mean those urban areas that have the highest gun ownership in America? How's that working out? They have the highest number of gun deaths per capita by a wide margin.
You might argue that it's the criminals in the ghetto who own guns. In fact, the criminals are among the few residents who possess anything of value (drugs, etc) so they are the only ones with property worth protecting. Yet, the result of their gun ownership ends mostly in death and violence.

Oneself: 'HPP is not the ghetto'
Your threats about shooting are more ‘ghetto’ than anything else on this site.
You do realize that you chose to buy in an area with the absolute cheapest housing prices in the entire state ? While there may be some ‘nice lots’ in HPP, Puna has the highest unemployemnet rate, the lowest per capita income, and a slew of other variables that go hand in hand with higher burglary rates all across the country, not just here in Hawaii.
The fact that you have made yourself a target by broadcasting your home address, when you work, and that you have guns, shows that while your body is here in Hawaii, your mind is somewhere else.
I know my rights and the law., are you trying to threaten me by saying I'm a "target" ??
If not, you should probably watch your mouth.
I don't feel there's a lot of crack heads casing puna web, so I'll take it as a threat that YOU indeed plan to cause trouble and I don't take to those threats kindly.
I'm here trying to put an end to the crime And YOU are putting the idea of more crime out there. I don't like that buddy.

Easy.
Easy boy.
Finger off the trigger, hon.
Punaperson clearly was not threatening you, Oneself. In actuality, and upon reflection, I believe you and your lovely wife may want to sincerely thank him/her for attempting to warn you in the gentlest kindest most intelligent/poetic way possible that advertising one's arsenal on the internet may, in fact, not be in one's best interests.
By the way, no matter how far back in time and no matter the quantity, it is indeed possible to edit one's posts should one reconsider their content and care to, I believe.
