Holes in Clothes?

Your best bet may be to switch to thong underwear then you wouldn't have to worry about it.

My mother always taught me to smell underwear before purchasing it. For instance, it can take years to wash out the smell of Tide. Maybe when you buy underwear, and you use a different soap to wash them out than the previous owner did, switching soaps might cause the fabric to deteriorate more quickly? Like how we are advised to not switch brands of motor oil?

"...switching soaps might cause the fabric to deteriorate more quickly? Like how we are advised to not switch brands of motor oil?"

Smile no research whatsoever to back up my suspicion but, this concept sounds like it may be an old urban legend originally promoted by commercial interests to encourage brand loyalty.

Bugs
Sunlight UV (if hung outside or stored where UV can get to it)
time & wear
washer damage
possibly light acid from VOG or work chemicals (Used to work with ascetic acid oxidation reactions...my jeans ALWAYS had slight pinholes (back n that day, DH & I wore similar sized jeans...yah...I was much thinner then.. and we could easily tell mine work jeans from his...mine had pinholes...)

Yes, I think it might be moth holes after looking at pics on the internet. Enjoyed the jokes - esp. the one about "an inside job"!

I was more drawn to the ".. Maybe when you buy underwear, and you use a different soap to wash them out than the previous owner did, switching soaps..." comment. I don't care who ya are, that's funny right there!

And might I add it's really very nice to see a glimpse of humor here rather than the the large amounts of negativity that has been directed at each other.

100% cotton tshirts get deteriated by biological bugs. So every so often they got synthetic soccer jerseys at Ross under $10 which should last much longer though supposedly retain odors. Maybe the best aiternative is those ''blue collar" hi viz green or yellow 50/50 tshirt.

Though I seen they got 100% poly hi viz t shirts now at Kmart under $10 when on sale!

We had the same problem at the commune.
Everyone changed underwear every week, but when we changed with the guys in the carpenters yurt there seemed to be more holes.
We never figured it out.

Could be small ants. I've seen them gather on a pillow case where my young son drooled while sleeping. The saliva must've attracted them. Maybe the sweat on the undies attracted ants. I've also seen ants in kleenex and TP by the hundreds. It might be it's good nesting material.
