Ditto, blood sweat and tears only get you so far. If you need deep pockets, you have to go where they are. I'm not saying I agree with Ruderman, but he the man now, our best hope of anything positive.

With his track record, could he be schmoozing with the moneybags to help his district? Just a thought to ponder on.

What 'moneybags' ? Who could Ruderman beg for money? Of what use can Puna be to the powers that be? Let me stretch my imagination. What does my poor community need besides attention which we are already getting? In the two years that he has been a Senator what has he done? What is his track record? Nothing really. His voters are in these districts (he only has one constituent, by his own admission). We know Ruderman's services and courtesies have been extended to help a specific person in Puna. In his letter to the editor Ruderman called this person his 'constituent'. Excuse me Senator Ruderman but your constituents are the voting citizens and permanent resident aliens with green cards, would you agree? We have learned that this person with whom you refer to as your "constituent" and with whom you have had a long and close association has no green card or legal right to be in the United States(link below pg.11). Following this admission, this person states that he regularly smokes marijuana indoors,(pg.17) in front of other people's children. He does not seem to think this is worrisome. This is very disturbing, in light of the fact that he works with children and titles himself an “educator.” Educate yourself. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bz7H439...HSkVLdDJV/ view?usp=sharing

I think you should be aware that Belly Acres, SPACE and the Volcano Circus involve many more more people than Graham Ellis. I would not fault Senator Ruderman for trying to find solutions. The county has created more problems in Puna than Graham or his associates ever could.
Those groups, including Graham have done a lot of good in Puna and I am among those who appreciate their efforts.

PT- Gil also holds fundraisers on Oahu, and Ruderman holds fundraisers in Puna. Can you spell ' double standard?'

Look, we get it. Ruderman is already money, he doesn't need money. His last two fundraisers were for Roger Christie, and his campaign fundraiser was in Kea'au. Yes, that is still Puna but not south Puna, which is the point here. This fundraiser is for the 2016 elections and more for some of these sleazy, questionable "environmental" nonprofits camped out in Honolulu now, ready to start their "focusing" on south Puna voters. It's always a joke to see these shirtless guys and space pixies coming in from California to "testify" for south Puna "save the aina". It doesn't seem like there is any objective in all this, so it looks like they do serve acid kool-aid at these Puna Porno Alliance meetings. Either that or it is one big scam to manipulate state grant money distributed to crony "nonprofits". SPACE got $60,000 in grants as soon as Ruderman took office. And now, BLNR finds it was all illegal. Nothing good has come out of this clown troupe.

I would like to ask what your basis is for this statement. There are a lot of people who know quite well that a lot of good has come from the Volcano Circus. I cannot in fact think of anyone else down in Seaview that has come remotely close to doing as much good as this clown troupe.

Just for the sake of argument: assume the "clown troupe" (along with all their buildings and other infrastructure) is disamantled in order to meet the "country lifestyle preservation requirement" including the discontinuance of any and all "ethically questionable behavior", resulting in a completely clean slate for the immediate Red Road communities who currently suffer all the indignities inflicted upon them by the "clown troupe". In the unlikely event that County and/or State step up to provide all the newly missing services, how much money are we talking about? To the extent that these services are only of local benefit to the afflicted communities, they would need to create a LID for funding; how much extra property tax is required? Are those communities willing to step up and pay the additional monies to rid themselves of this "clown troupe" and their alleged ethical shortcomings? I, for one, would almost be willing to pay more taxes just to never hear the whining about "Supporting Ruderman Means Children Will Clear-Cut Protected Old-Growth Forest Reserve While Smoking Dope" -- except that it's cheaper than cable TV, and twice as entertaining. Anyway: because nobody else along the Red Road bothers to raise a counterpoint, I am left to assume that everyone is happy driving to their expensive Korner Store and getting their produce at the Uncle Robert's Illegal Farmers' Market, especially after the lava flow turns Hilo into an all-day expedition. Best "country lifestyle" available in Puna, right?

A. One of the Republican platforms is anti-science. This is just a fact, the Creationists, Christian Coalition, Moral Majority, Mormons, Jehovah Witness, KKK, Christian Scientists have all been arms of the Republican party for several decades. They are all anti-science.
B. The Democrat platform is pro-science. C. Ruderman is vehemently anti-science, saying so several times on video. Therefore, Ruderman is not a Democrat and his continuing weird legislative efforts are visible evidence in front of your face. Ruderman and his gang are stuck in this "Stick It To The Man" schtick from the 70's. The only problem is everybody is a lot older and more and more dependent on all kinds of aid from "The Man". In the Ruderman gang version, Hawaii state is "The Man". How is this aloha or pono? To "Stick It To The Man", this Ruderman gang has developed an impressive, sophisticated scam to siphon off our tax dollar state funds to their personal tributaries like "environmental" nonprofits. Environmental is good, how can anybody be against environmental? Sustainability is good, how can anybody be against sustainability? (interesting how this newspeak buzzword has died down so quickly).
