Mahalo for that Tom ... Survey how many smokers in the group and then record where possible 20X, pack-a-day butts end up.

NOT intended @ you Southernmost but you gotta admit ... Is it not painful to watch a person on beach or just walking up to storefront with butt going only to know they gonna toss it right on the ground prior to going in ?

Apologies for thread derail ...

Happy Easter.

POG, I can't stand it when anyone throws their pilau butts on the aina or in the ocean!! I hope that person has quit smoking or someone tells them something! I wouldn't judge everyone on one person though. But if I see um throwing their butts around believe me that person will get an earful! Aloha

I hear you da kine(brrrrrrrr) but I don't think anything is going to stop this movement and it's growing.

Da Hui, the famous surf club from the North Shore of O'ahu joins the effort.

Members and famous pro surfers Dustin Barca, Kala Alexander, Kamalei Alexander, Keala Naihe
and Ekolu Kalama all made the journey over.

I spent some time with a Mongolian hill tribe in the golden triangle area of SE Asia. The chief explained to their political struggles of the displaced nomads tribes, the original inhabitants of the area going back over 5000 years. He basically said they have been slowly working with the government of Thailand for residency and working rights, next will be the ability to purchase land.

Coming from Hawaii and having listened to our local grievances, I asked how he felt about losing the ability to live a nomadic tribal lifestyle. His response:

We have lost our hunting grounds and there is not enough game any longer to feed us. The world changes, and we want to change with the world. We still have our homes here in the hills and some of us go back and forth into civilization to work and bring back supplies. We are grateful for the opportunities to work and to change with the world. We are a happy people.

Wow, I thought about doing a documentary exploring the disparity btwn his/their attitude and that of the "natives" around here. Even the Dalai Lama, when asked by a sovereignty group for his advise and blessings after telling him all about their "plight", responded by saying "I don't understand what your problem is?"

Southernmost, aloha to you and your ohana. I believe you are right this movement against TMT is not going to stop anytime soon. Kaupo had a rally in Honolulu with a hundred or more showing up:

As more information starts to come out, there has apparently/allegedly been miscommunication between TMT officials, UH officials, DLNR & HCPD officers, and the protestors/protectors.

When the information given to the protestors/protectors is not factual, this continues the appearance of "deceit". In order to be working towards a peaceful/reasonable situation, it would behoove the TMT/UH group to be transparent and truthful however difficult.

What is apparently transpiring is beginning to really irritate me, when my support was based on promises made by TMT/UH et al. To be deceitful, or "not perfectly candid" in this kind of atmosphere is extremely counterproductive.

As an aside, it is also my understanding that Canada is contemplating not funding this project. Perhaps their decision is weighed by the article below:

http://www.engadget.com/2015/03/18/thirt...-problems/

Beginning to lose faith in the "process", as all parties must do what was promised. Not fulfilling obligations/promises made to our aina and to all of us, will result in yet another project perceived as "shoved down our throats". Auwe! (SMH)

ETA: Forgot to address the "hewa" behavior of the one Mr. Tom speaks of (the cigarette butts strewn around); Kapulu and she should be embarrassed. Maybe for more than one reason. Takes all kinds to messy this situation up, on both sides. Auwe, again. JMO.
