What do you know about the formation of the protectorate and its policy established under Kamehameha III? Have you read the protectorate agreement and do you know what some of the provisions were within it with regard to protecting the monarchy during invasions or insurrections? Under the Policy what was the protectorate mission of the Marines who were posted at Honolulu Harbor?

For one you are assuming we are better off. There is no factual way to discern that, that also goes for arguing that we are worse off now, which is why its not a valid argument by either side.

Again regardless of the outcome, it's up to who ever has the sovereign rights to make those decisions. Not the occupying power.

Or as I attempted to point out, a sovereign decision is made and unexpectedly a new occupying power comes in and ignores that decision.

For all the faults of the USA, and in my opinion there are many, there are plenty of worse powers that a small nation could be very vulnerable to. You would NOT have wanted Imperial Japan, for example.

Not an absolute but certainly a major concern that unsavory elements might gain power if they are no longer concerned that the object of their interest is a US state. This is yet another important thing to be discussed and taken into account. For your sakes, not ours.

You stated earlier that you wanted to discuss the matter of illegal occupation by the United States and this is where events begin.
They don't begin with the Bayonet Constitution or with the overthrow. They begin by understanding the full scope of dynamics involved at that time. Now... I'm rewinding the time line to actually comprehend the dynamics so we can all get a better understanding of the political maneuvering and dynamics involved and to help us better understand exactly what happened during the initial Coup D'état.
To understand this we need to understand why the Marines were around the Palace that day and to know that we need to know why they were in the Harbor and what their role was as requested by the Monarchy of the United States. SO again, do you know what the policy guidelines were with regard to the protectorate aspect?
