Any good ideas come to mind yet? Perhaps a wonderful project will present itself one of these days.

Almost made it without a typo Frank! Well put though. I remembered to remind myself today to be more positive.

Boy Frank you’re right on about how to be a good neighbor! Perhaps it is called social conscience, with a bit of cooperation thrown in. Another way to put it although I’m not a particularly religious person is, do to others what you would have them do to you. It should be evident in all interactions, every day, whether it’s at the local gas station, down at the bank, paying the garbage bill, or attending a community association meeting, or a master gardener’s class.
The idea here was to build a team of people interested in choosing to make a difference beyond their everyday lives. To foster a good deed on a grander scale, and to have an afternoon of great music, enjoyable company, super food along with promoting, educating and supporting goodwill and charity in the community.
As it takes a cooperative group of people willing to get dirty and sweaty to do this, we were trying to learn how to become a cooperative and cohesive team of like minded people. Eager to make a difference together, and have a good time
This will happen in the future as the seed has already begun to sprout. People will bring their individual talents to the project. Those willing and cooperative people who will support this endeavor with hard work, positive attitude and perhaps a little seed money will pull this off in the future.
They will have a great time and will get admission gratis, and perhaps the first commemorative tee shirt of an annual or bi annual event. Tickets will be for sale for those who choose to indulge themselves if not the project, and want to attend. This will not happen on the Punaweb unfortunately. But thanks to the Punaweb there is a growing list of individuals willing and able to be apart of the charter organization who will be contacted thru another medium.
AND yes we do need to be dependent on someone organizing and promoting this. Someone is needed with organization skills, people skills, gumption, and team building abilities for this to be a success. Adios, I love the Fern Acres Community boards these days, am learning alot of great stuff!

Pam, There is a project developing in Pahoa which might be perfect for your interest for a non-profit event. Get in touch with me and I will fill you in.

Aloha to all...
I am new on Punaweb, but my husband and I own 3 acres in Fern Forest that we plan to live and build on very soon. We are quiet but community minded people. We are very anxious to get over there permanantly and become as 'localized' as is possible for haoles. My husband is a respiratory therapist and I am .....hmmmm...I am...several things...a seamstress...a wedding coordinator...cake decorator...homemaker...artist...take your pick. I never could choose just one. *S*
If there is anything we can do to assist this project please let me know.
In the meantime...I would suggest doing something that directly benefits the Native Hawaiian poplulation...ie their language school....Hawaiian Vets....There is a new VA Hospital being built in Hilo....maybe provide the Vets with some vital piece of equipment or something.... Just suggestions...
Thnx...

Toni,
Welcome to our corner of paradise. In Fern forest you are not far from me at all... you are off South Glenwood and I am on North Glenwood... so we're neighbors!

We look forward to meeting you. Our project is on hold for a few months while I straighten a few things out but then it will be back on... and your suggestions are good ones.

Smile

Just another day in P A R A D I S E !!
I want to be the kind of woman that, when my feet
hit the floor each morning, the devil says

"Oh Crap, She's up!"
