Hawaii ranked worst state to make a living
#91
It's doubtful Hawaii is the worst place to make a living

It depends on your definition of "living."
I doubt my definition would resemble the definition the editors of Forbes use. But then, I'm not trying to sell any magazines.

Top Ten Reasons Hawaii is the best place to make a living. I'll start it off:

#10 - I have never scraped ice off my windshield before I left for work.
"I'm at that stage in life where I stay out of discussions. Even if you say 1+1=5, you're right - have fun." - Keanu Reeves

#9 - When your co-workers ask you where you are going on vacation, you can say "I'm going to HAWAII!" and everyone will have a good laugh.

I've nowhere else to compare with, but I'm pretty sure there aren't too many places where one can...

#7. Return from a mid-day surf session, remove the hand written "gone surfing" note, and consistently find one's unsecured merchandise completely intact and unmolested.

#6. When you are working an 8-4:30 shift, you never get to work or leave in the dark...ETA at least in reference to the SUNLIGHT ;~).
#5. You are not the only one that may go surfing, paddling, swimming, diving or snorkeling before work

Wyoming has a lot of well paying oil field jobs for the last few years. But because of that their housing is expensive. (got a friend there who has been there for 30 years+).

I watch the cable shows venued in Alaska and my conclusion is you can't pay me to live in Alaska. Wait a minute they do pay you to live in Alaska. Whereas in Hawaii they take away all your money. Look like worth it to be poor in Hawaii though.

Volcano (the golf course side, not the town side): My first landlord in Hawaii told me she scraped ice off her windshield twice in 7 years.

Not trying to belittle your excellent start of the top-ten list, just posting interesting(?) Hawaii trivia.

I've never had to scrape ice off the windshield on the way to work, but have most definitely had to scrape it off before heading back! [Wink]
