Voter Fraud Alleged.. Tiffany Edwards Hunt
#21
Leilanidude posts,
When she was an admin to Auntie Emily, where did the county list her address for her pay stubs...I bet it wasn't the surf shop and if it was, she then committed tax fraud
on the Hilo property!"

on the topic of the Hilo property, below is from West Hawaii Today

".... alleged Edwards Hunt falsely used the exemption for the home, which she was using as a rental. Property records show the Hilo home is worth more than her house in Hawaiian Acres, and therefore provided a larger tax break.
Stan Sitko, administrator of the county’s real property tax office, confirmed Edwards Hunt had to pay $3,609.20 for misusing the tax break. That includes three years of back payments, the maximum allowed by statute, and a 10 percent fine."

The West Hawaii Today article doesn't mention the period of time Tiffany and Jeff Hunt took homeowners' exemptions on BOTH Hawaiian Acres and Hilo homes after their marriage, when only entitled to one, on the house where they actually lived.
Doubling up on tax exemptions, from 2008--11, funny how they had two other primary residences for tax purposes while they "resided" at the surf shop.

Looks like County of Hawaii can't recover on the property tax cheating from the double-dipping period because just outside of that 3-year window.

Maybe she should crowd fund a tax repayment to help her get "karmatically correct" (one of her quotes to the Trib) - instead of hitting her friends up to cover her legal defense. One hour of Brian de Lima costs what, a few hundred?

Leilanidude, I also remember the frequent blog posts over a prolonged period about commuting from Hawaiian Acres to Pahoa through rubbish dumps and speed traps. That was before she started threatening to sue people who questioned her journalistic abilities. I quit following the blog after that.

It sounds like they have enough houses to sell one for the defense. So far, there are four known ones.

The really annoying part is the bigislandchronicle was making such a big deal with the whole self-righteousness trip, on almost everything, which drew more and more of this bizarre crowd together. Several are on here, they are easily recognizable. There was some kind of collective forming, probably most surreal with Ellis on stage at the Akibono in a suit, an illegal British migrant con man telling the district Democrats how the US government should be run. These Puna stories are so bizarre, they can't be made up. Now, to find out Tiffany was deliberately running tax evasion and voter fraud schemes, looking how to game the system, was only a bigger eye opener.

And her numerous blog posts over the years about living in Hawaiian Acres, should be further proof.

It's all there in writing, which certainly makes her case hard to defend. Unless... her attorney claims the blog posts are in fact short works of fiction, excerpts from the novel she's been struggling over these many years.

These Puna stories are so bizarre, they can't be made up.

Or can they? Aren't these Puna stories just a little TOO bizarre to have actually occurred, your honor?

I'm a bit behind the times here, but the latest is the assigned judge has recused himself from the case because he knows Tiffany:

Then there's a couple of weird comments on the fundraising page Tiffany set up that I know nothing about from a "donna labelle":

https://fundrazr.com/campaigns/616bU8/sh/45WTUa

"You violated the Code of Journalistic Integrity when you didn't protect your sources in the Riverside / Cortez story. They were harmed, greatly. So, no. I want to see you in jail. (btw, Hawai`i is a 1 Party Consent State)"

"btw, this story (the Complete story) referred to above, will be breaking from Washington some time mid-May"

No idea what that's all about. Anyone know?

This is the commentary on Big Island chronicle that "Donna Labelle" the poster must be referring to - read way down.
http://www.bigislandchronicle.com/2014/0...es-for-io/

“After that hearing, I sat in the parking lot of the Judiciary Complex with the woman, and then I gave her a ride back to her apartment. I spent two more hours with her after the eviction hearing, being both reporter and counsellor, and after I left her company, I felt like my brain was going to explode.

At press time, a federal grand jury had indicted Xavier “Peewee” Cortez for the murder of an 18-month-old girl three years ago in one of the apartments. The woman was hell bent on shining the light on that crime. And I think she helped to do so, mentioning it in court papers related to her eviction.”

Oh well, that is par for the course when you are dealing with Tiffany and her idea of journalistic ethics. Tiffany just runs off at the mouth into print, and as I understand it, somebody got hurt as a result of her irresponsible reporting. Tiffany doesn't know you have to protect your sources in such a case like this. Even though Tiffany didn't mention the woman's name she gave a good enough description to allow the defendant and his kind to retaliate against this woman for having helped. The woman gets threatened and perhaps assaulted and now she is on Tiffany's funrazer page letting everyone know what happened. https://fundrazr.com/campaigns/616bU8/ab...9226668989&fb_action_types=fundrazr%3Astory_update

My 2 cents on this issue is "what a big waste of time and money".
Jmo here, Seems odd or wrong to me that a peanut case like Tiffany's would recieve so much attention, or need a new judge in the courtroom, or would need to be dismissed period. While other seemingly important community issues like our current Mayor's p-card spending habits or misuse of, didn't need to see a courtroom or need a new judge who didnt know him, or even cost him his position.

Also Why would a Puna resident be arrested last year and now be facing 76 years(life)in prison for helping the state of hawaii, or the many community residents obtain their life saving MMJ safely and affordably, (via his collectable?) While other folks like Richard Ha recieve state support and would be allowed to basically provide the same sevices(via his dispensary) to these MMJ patients next year at a higher patient cost.

Except she is only being charged with living in the wrong district for the time period of AUG-NOV 2012.She doesn't mention the Acres during that time period, only Pahoa.
