I'm glad to see that Mr. Hoffman has a web presence. This is very informative.

Can someone tell me where I can get information about campaign contributors?

Pete Hoffman has had a meaningful impact on cleaning up the local environment. I believe he was a motivator for the plastic bag ban, which has made a noticeable improvement along our roadways, and beaches.

Harry Kim had eight years to restore confidence in government. Failed!

The main thing I remember was his push to build a monstrous incinerator. We would really be eating it now if he had gotten his way then.

I don't remember where Hoffman was on that. Does anyone know?

Hoffmann (along with the 3 Hilo boys -- Ikeda, Higa, Yoshimoto) voted yes for the incinerator.

Harry Kim had eight years to restore BillyB's confidence in government and obviously Failed! But for many others who are rallying behind his campaign he seems to have succeeded. There sure are a lot of his signs out there. Now I never measured the worth of a man by the size.. I mean number.. of his signs but damn Harry's got 'em in plenty!

Well, I went to the website: http://ags.hawaii.gov/campaign/

For Wally Lau: No data; Harry Kim: No data; Pete Hoffman: $650.00. $150.00 of that was from one out of state person. Apart from listing the people in charge of their campaign committees there is essentially zip. When Mayor Kenoi ran for his first term there was a now defunct alternative rag that went to great lengths to list his contributors, many of whom were Oahu residents as I recall. There was a flap about the Campbell family members each donating the maximum amount etc. I'm not sure how those journalists got the detailed information they did (several pages), but it did influence my vote. Unfortunately it was their last issue before selling to a Honolulu based publisher and fading away.

True that!!! A neighbor of the Kim's told me they see the same truck backing up and dropping off loads of newly made signs weekly in Harry's driveway. Interesting to see how this is reported, his preference for plywood and hand painted messages are too expensive for most campaigns. I guess he can afford it.

FYI: HGEA Endorses Harry Kim (*Snipped - More at link)

HILO, BIG ISLAND (HawaiiNewsNow) -
As the deadline to run for mayor of the Big Island approaches, former Mayor Harry Kim has picked up a key endorsement.

The Hawaii Government Employees Association, the state’s largest union representing more than 50,000 people, announced Thursday it is endorsing Kim.

Why wouldn't the HGEA endorse Harry? His last administration was a windfall for them, both in terms of new members via hires and a vastly expanded county payroll.
