Hurricane season 2016
2pm update shows movement is still WEST, in spite of predictions of a curve NW.

Peak winds in Puna/Hilo will probably be between 2pm and 8pm today -- intensity is down graded slightly so what you see now is probably what you'll get for the Puna area.

Landfall of the center will probably occur at about 4:30pm to 5pm.

As the old Stephen Colbert might have said had he discussed the weather:
Great tropical storm?
Or the GREATEST tropical storm?

"But more seriously, how’d that work out? I see nothing dramatic about the satellite record yet Darby didn’t come anywhere close to making anything but a glancing blow to Puna. In fact it seems to me to have done pretty much what I said it would. It remained off shore to the South of the island as it moved West."

"The 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron flew through Darby for a
good portion of the day, and departed the storm just before the
poorly-defined center came ashore over the southeastern portion of
the Big Island near Pahala around 2 pm
. The center is estimated to
be traversing the southern slopes of the Big Island at this time."

That sounds less like a prediction... and more like some manner of sorcery that thou hast conjured. Good job!

Ah, the winner of a game of Russian Roulette congratulates himself on having been correct, and confuses this with having been wise.
