I think the volcano blew out.
Can someone go up there and relight it?

Chunkster,
"Has anyone seen what the highest recorded Big Island wind speed was with Darby? None of the reports I've read have given it." I've been trying to find the info, but without a lot of success. There are data for the main reporting stations (Kona and Hilo airport for example) but haven't found what you're asking for. Gusts at KOA got close to 40mph as the center of the storm approached it, but that's all I know. There are a couple of keen amateur meteorologists at work, so will ask on Monday if they can help.

"One of the interesting things I've noticed, when watching the radar imaging during the approach of our storms, is, that as soon as the VOG bank is pulled into the storm, the storm begins to act eradic, loses a great deal of force and tends to shift South rapidly, seemingly with a jumping about, destabelized center." The center of the storm didn't shift to the south as it got close to the island. It kept going west-north-west.

quote:LMAO! Mahalo, EightFingers. Kudos to terracore! Mahalo to all for the continued coverage of this storm. Very happy to see we all survived Darby with minimal damage. Pahoated shows a couple more on the way; be maka'ala (aware). Still believe our mountains thwart (somewhat) these storms. Mahalo ke Akua. Honolulu is getting pounded at the moment, and they have closed portions of the H-1. Thankfully, we don't have an "H-1"! Mahalo again to all who pulled together as a community to "weather the storm". Heard a few calls on the scanner where private citizens (again, some probably among us here on PW) cleared roadways, and assisted in the overall safety of our community. Rest well, all. Tomorrow is indeed another day. JMO.

quote:Aloha, airportparking. Please, what is "aghu"? TIA. How did you fare during the storm with your parking? Flights were a hot mess, which may have helped your business (or not). Trust all is well. Isn't PW a wealth of information at times? [] JMO. P.S. Mr. Tom is an Englishman, thus, proper, and given his scientific mind (much like my own brother; enginnering/scientific, etc.) will correct inaccuracies. No fuss, no muss, as it were. Most of us would rather deal with facts than fiction, frankly (Sorry, don't mean to speak for anyone; just myself and ohana). ETA: clarity; typo

"O.K aghu HAVE TO SAY IT Thank you Ted !!!
4 dat image. TomK I have noticed your hall monitor level of correcting people." Well, thank you. Would you prefer complete nonsense going uncorrected instead? It's interesting that you started a thread about how sad Punaweb is but now have a dig at me when I've never actually responded to any of your posts. Unless you've been posting under another pseudonym of course...

OK, pau. (Aloha pog. [] No false reporting here!)
This may become a very, very long thread. Our island(s) are in for yet another series of storms, as usual every year. We will take care of each other, as always. I'm patiently waiting, for another full moon (perhaps an earthquake, or two, lava flowing, etc.), and "purple rain". [] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8BMm6Jn6oU&sns=fb JMO. P.S. I'm sitting here watching all y'all's weather links, and getting a damn headache (lol)! Can we just have a minute to breathe...E ha...as it were. TIA.
