Good God, Mr. Tom. OHA can't even take care of basics, never mind, the TMT matter. First they support TMT, then they rescind support (stopping short of being against the project), and now this?!?!?! Land management (ie. Kaka'ako, "working with" DHHL, etc.)? OMG, I am speechless. SMH.
Note the timing; election period. So hewa! When OHA (specifically, Bob Lindsey and CEO of OHA, Kamana'o Crabbe) went up to Mauna Kea with "concern for the protestors/protectors", it was all a precursor to the entity created in the article above, with no results....yet. Hell, they can't even have meetings of substance!
Such a damn disappointment. Again.

P.S. If you are able to read the entire article, it states our "Princess" (not mine, for the record) Abigail Kawananakoa, (who is suing OHA and the State and the UH) is supporting OHA in this effort. What a freaking hot mess.

It's behind a paywall and the last time I paid a small amount to get access to one article I ended up with evening phone calls from the advertiser for a month. Never again.
PS. Just thought you'd be interested; I don't consider anyone in the UK's royal family as "my queen", "king", "prince", "princess" or anything like that. They don't represent me and I don't represent them. It appears we have similar principles.

Would several large air conditioners really have to run all day so that the observatory equipment will function properly?

Since the money to operate the TMT would not be coming from Hawaii, this is completely moot. How much would your proposed water bottling plant cost and where would that money come from? How many schools' A/C would it be equivalent to?

Without TMT revenue, expect a tax increase to pay for this. (Expect the tax increase anyway, but hopefully it's less severe if the revenue base is allowed to expand.)

Mahalo, Obie. OHA does fail miserably in management; all areas of management, and land management being one of the biggest failures (Kaka'ako is a prime example).
This suit is a total political move.
Waiting for the update on the next Contested Case Hearing set for August 5th (continuance requests, etc.)

Yes, which point has been hammered many times -- it's a bit like saying "don't buy a computer today, everything in the store is obsolete, tomorrow's computers will be 10x the speed for 1/10th the price" -- which ignores the fact that sufficiently advanced technology is already available, and there's work that needs to be done today. Sometimes an existing, well-understood technology is better than waiting around -- future technologies will always be "better", if you don't mind not getting anything done "now".
