TMT - Contested Case Hearing Status - Hilo
"To clarify, that is not an article, and as such has no value as news (as the original poster wishes to imply it does), but is only an opinion piece. Pure and simply only one persons opinion."

What can I say other than "wow"? Dakine redefines the English language, plus also knows what I wish.

"Though the original poster here doesn't have time, nor the patience, to listen to and consider anyone who has a difference of option other than his. Or so it seems."

I believe "the original poster here" is Opihikao and I strongly suspect he is a she. But please just keep up making up the language. It's a nice analogy to use in the future regarding one or two of the TMT protesters making up their own rules and laws.

Ah, sorry, my bad. I should have say, "commenter" TomK.

Then that would be Gypsy. You haven't got this language thing sorted yet, have you?

I don't think this helps your case.

At the bottom of the first post in that thread, dakine says:

Lilikala Kame`eleihiwa’s article is at:

Oh look, it's an opinion piece.
Has the word "article" been redefined sometime this year???

"To clarify, that is not an article"

If opinion pieces aren't articles then why did you yourself refer to an opinion piece in the same publication as an article just a few months ago?

"Or so it seems when he makes condescending comments like: "I read about six or seven of the comments before giving up.""

How many more times are you going to edit your post? You don't know why I gave up, but you sure like telling everyone why you think I did. That is virtually the definition of being condescending.

I read through the comments to http://www.civilbeat.org/2016/09/big-isl.../#comments

All I can say that Aloha has been lost and I feel sad that Hawaiians can not find a better way forward. The anti-tmt crowd have not offered any solutions other than to drive the astronomy industry away and many hope for various forms of what can only be described as an ethnic cleansing and/or minority rule.

I think if some of these people in glass houses spent time in the other Pacific Islands they wouldn't be so quick to toss stones at the glass walls. There are innumerable benefits with being a US State.

Did it ever occur to anyone that if TMT has to go elsewhere, the people of Hawaii will be mocked as childish fools all over the world? And the USA will be mocked as weak and incompetent for putting the interests of a roomfull of lawyered cranks above the population of a state, and even humanity itself?

And this is something you expect your kids to take pride in?

You expect your kids to look up at the night sky and think 'I am so proud that human knowledge is not being gathered here, but somewhere else by wiser people than us.'

Or better yet, to look up at the sky and think nothing at all. Like an empty mountaintop with a pile of rocks on it is going to fill them with cultural pride?

Because this is the 21st century. You are not raising your kids in a fantasy time warp alternate history comic book written by your lawyers. They will have to live in the real world.

Parents who sacrifice their kids' future to politics and ideology need to take a long, hard look in the mirror.

And you wonder why the young here are so confused and nihilistic?

Not a bad point, but you should have stopped there.

Since you didn't say who you were addressing, it comes across as if you're addressing everyone. Also, although I'm sure there are people that fit your description, there's no way it fits everyone. What you posted is quite offensive and doesn't help the case for the TMT or the current observatories.

My suggestion is you don't generalise so much because that way you'll offend everyone, and when the word "you" is used, you make it clear who that person is.
