Putting a vehicle in a container results in making the container a bomb, as gasoline fumes will accumulate inside the mostly airtight container where one load shift causing a spark leads to catastrophic results that a shipping company can not afford.
---------- Vehicles are shipped in containers all the time. There are no gasoline fumes unless your vehicle has a leak.

We just shipped vehicle from Oakland on the Jan, 10. Got notice today that vehicle is ready for pick up in Hilo Jan, 25. Good it is there, I wish I was. We talked to Matson to make arrangements and they quoted $1,070 from port to port. We called Coastal Auto Shipping, and they quoted $870.00 port to port. So went with them. Thing is, the vehicle was still shipped on a Matson ship. You might also consider connecting with someone who is wanting to share a 40' container. To Load and unload trailer from container find a towing company with a flat bed tow truck.

To clarify my statement about a car in a container creates trapped gasoline fumes making the container a potential bomb is not reality, but an insurance underwriters excuse to limit policy dictating what can, and what cannot be shipped within a container. And, as I said, check with your shipping company.
