Good grief. That's a head scratcher for sure Tom. I'd like to see the re-enactment of this one!

Why get back in the car with your kidnapper?
Yes, that's quite strange. Like some kind of slightly delayed Stockholm Syndrome. Definitely more to the story than what's in the report. You could never convince a monkey to give you a banana by promising him limitless bananas after death in monkey heaven.

Maybe the person in the car he rolled into was scarier than the car jacker?

the person in the car he rolled into was scarier...
You might just have it Kenney. The highjacked victim passes a car, cuts in front of him, slams on the brakes, jumps out of his car without shifting into park, his car rolls into the guy he wants to ask for help - - but at that point the would be rescuer is pissed off, fuming with road rage, and starts screaming at the guy he perceives as some kind of insane idiot driver. It probably made the kidnapper look calm and level headed by comparison. You could never convince a monkey to give you a banana by promising him limitless bananas after death in monkey heaven.

It gets even more strange.
http://www.westhawaiitoday.com/news/loca...hitchhiker "Wagner said the hitchhiker demanded the man drive him to Waimea. When the motorist told the suspect he was not traveling in that direction, the hitchhiker threatened him with a weapon and demanded he be taken to Waimea." [...] "The victim drove with the suspect for about five miles. According to the release, the suspect demanded the driver stop in the area of Mauna Lani Bay Drive." So we learn the "undisclosed" location was Waimea, but instead, there was a convenient getaway vehicle on Mauna Lani Drive, which I don't think is anywhere near Waimea. As HOTPE states: "Definitely more to the story than what's in the report."

Doesn't a nail gun need an air compressor?

He could have been carrying a tank of compressed air, like in No Country for Old Men!

But there was a getaway car on Mauna Lani, which makes the Waimea claim a little odd. I suppose the kidnapper could have originally arranged to be picked up in Waimea but changed his plans and called his accomplices to change the location, but without further information, who knows? Perhaps there were getaway vehicles in both places? The whole thing just seems very fishy to me. |
