Judging from the prices things sold for at the tax lien sale in Hilo this week it is hard to believe there is any decline.

yeah it was amazing to see these people bid up these lots to the same price as you could buy them for anyway without the waiting period. i was going to bid on a few but it was obvious early on people had lost their minds, lol!

We talked to others here in Seaview. We all
went to bid. But like you said
"it was obvious early on people had lost their mind"
Oh well.

As a real estate agent here in Hilo and Puna I can say that prices have leveled off and some have declined. It's true that the buying frenzy of last year is over but sales remain strong, especially here in Puna. It's all relative. Sales are much stronger than they were a few years ago. We are still the best priced place in HI and more people are figuring this out everyday. I sell more to folks moving from the mainland than from people who already live here.

Do those people know that Puna is very rainy, moldy, and has many Coquis? I see a lot of Puna price reductions everyday on the listings
that Harry Pritkin sends me, as people can't sell at the price they purchased it for, once they have lived there, and get fed up with all of the negatives in paradise, and want to get out quick, so they must lower the price.
