I am staying at the Naniloa right now. I'll give a full write-up on the experience when we leave for Puna next weekend.
But i will say the food I have had here was very good. And all the restaurant help seems very friendly and competent. They had a really nicely run barbecue out by the water today for Independence day. Good food and fast turnaround.

We never ate there during our visit last year. They were just wrapping up construction, had just transitioned over to Hilton and the restaurant/kitchen wasn't open. They had food set out in a room just off the lobby in those metal containers with burners underneath. We never tried it as It didn't look appetizing (to be fair it could have been good) and we were always out and about. Mostly, from my travels with work, I generally try and avoid hotel restaurant food.
I also will be interested to hear about your experiences at the hotel. We had a wonderful stay there and would stay again. There have been some negative reviews but we never had an issue.
Edit: I didn't take any pics of the inside of the rooms, but I do have a few of the grounds and views from our room. If your interested:

Apologies for bumping an oldish thread, but Jim, any chance of the review you mentioned? Pam and I will be staying there in the near future and was wondering what to expect. Thanks!

Last chance, Jim, unless you want Pam and I to find out for ourselves! [

PS. a little concerned that silence after staying at the Naniloa might not be a good sign...
