I understand a comprehensive investigation needs to be completed, but they could have conducted it with a little more decency.

I admit I may be wrong on this, but my understanding is that an ambulance cannot/does not transport already deceased individuals. If the individual is already deceased, a different type of transport is arranged. Not to make excuses for anyone, but given how few people are on the Big Island, it may well be that the transport for already deceased persons is not nearby.

That being said, I agree that 7 hours seems far too long, even given the above.

And most importantly, my condolences to the family, and I hope justice is served.

I almost hate to bring it up, but at least there's some (very) small consolation in the fatality being "official", it would be insulting to be told your loved one's death didn't count...
